Window Hinge Won't Rivet Back In

Hello everyone! I've attached a link below with photos of the dilemma I seem to have found myself in.

I have derivited the window hinge off of the left side window frame of my 22ft 1972 Airstream Argosy because the new replacement window wouldn't fit. I realize now that I could have slid it in with dish soap, but what's done is done. Now my problem seems to riveting the window hinge back on to the top of the window frame.

As you can see from the photos, because of the ledge on the window hinge the rivet set does not hit the face of the rivet head on, which would lead to lots of leaky and ugly rivets.

I bought a bent rivet set, but the bend doesn't start until too late. Does anybody have any idea how to get around this problem? Except for grinding down the ledge on the window hinge...which would not look very nice at the end of the day, and would remove the rain drainage tunnel.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Nico

Grind a notch in the rivet set to clear the lip. My rivet sets have all kinds of modification on them that I have needed to do through out the years. It won't hurt the set at all.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have a go at it right now. Such a simple solution!
