Front kitchen in Ambassador?

Hi All

I am a relatively new owner of a 1973 Ambassador. CS3 and I are trying to plan our full scale renovation. We are planning to do a frame off renovation with a bunch of moderizations. We have seen a RV with a front kitchen and liked it. I have enclosed a rough intial sketch but I am wondering if I will end up with too much weight on the hitch. I had planned to put 2 golf cart batteries up front but that could be changed. Would the kitchen with all of its utensils and full cupboards be too much weight on the front end. Can any one help with this?

The plan you have drawn would work fine. My frig will be in the same spot and the cabinets wouldn't weigh anymore than a dinette than converts to a bed. Many 30 gal fresh water tanks are under the dinette up front also. I like the idea of a front kitchen.

Hi Don, back in the 90's Airstream produced a front kitchen model with rear bedroom design like you have drawn. To my knowledge there were only a few made, however, I think having the weight up front did not effect the handling characteristics over the trailer much.

You should do alright with your design/build.
