Wiring question
I need to replace the plug for the trailer lights at the tongue. The wire dis appears into the frame on the left side of the frame .Do the wires go to a junction or routing box in the wall some where or do they just go to there assigned locations ? The pig tail I bought is only 24" long .I bought a water proof junction box that I could mount behind the hitch but I would prefer not to Suggestions or recommendations ?

You need about 9 feet of the original 7 way cable, plus the 7 way plug.
Underneath the front end, is an inspection plate that's about 8" x 8".
Take that plate off, and you will find that's where the 7 way cable ties into the trailer wiring.

Wiring
Recently went to camping World and bought a 7 pin connector with about three feet of cable. Went back under the tongue and cut then connected the wires using connectors and shrink wrap. very easy to do cost for both pig tails and misc. about $20.00 good luck

Your 12 volt cable is 41 years old. Replacing it is a wise thing to do.
Splicing that cable, instead of a complete replacement, is asking for more problems.
The more splices in any electrical system, the more chances for failures.
Replacing the cable completely does have a draw back. It will probably only last another 40 years.

They offer a wiring connector in 12 ft for 18.00 that would give you enough to replace the complete harness. Good luck

Be cautious when you buy replacement cable. Some cheap 7 wire cables are all #14 wire and are inadequate for the brake, charging, and ground wire.
Buy a cable that has #10 wire for the charging and ground, a #12 brake line, and #14 for the signals and running lights.

Camping World has that cable priced at $24.99, plus shipping.
They advertise it as 11 feet long.
The only problem with it is that it has the wrong connector on it.
The original 12 volt connectors for Airstream trailer was a 7 way "aircraft type" connector. It has 7 round plated pins that are self cleaning when inserted or removed from the socket.
The flat type terminals corrode very easily, since they are "NOT" plated, "AND" one grain of sand will stop part of it from working.
The complete cable is available with the aircraft type connector properly wired to Airstreams color code.
We have them in stock.

The six foot harness worked great for me connected with inline connectors then shrink wrap. No problems here. Pin connector was very simple and easy to install and the wires matched the guage from the trailer.

1974 Excella Window Caulk
Hi,
I'm new here and hope to gain and pass on any help I can.
I have a 1974 Excella and I'm in the process of breaking the inner panes out to replace with the gasket from Can-am.
I know you have to dig out the old sealant , but is there anything such as mineral spirits or better to clean this out with?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Robin Stone

Today I finally got to replacing that pigtail .After drilling out the rivets for the inspection cover at the front of the trailer there was a corroded old (for lack of a better term ) small circuit breaker for the brakes .It just fell apart It was riveted to cover.Does anyone Know the required amps for a new one .There was nothing that I could find on it or in the owners manual .I ordered a 20 and a 30 .The wires were pretty heavy .Probably 12 Ga.
