Fiberoptic indicator lights (4 of them)

I have read that a lot of people have 2 of the fiberoptic indicator lights on the street-side of their trailer. My excella 500 has 4 of them. The top pair are the standard left turn/stop and right turn/stop. The bottom 2 aren't functional. What are they supposed to do? I havn't removed the tail light assemblies to see where else I have the other end of the fiber cabling. Does anyone else have 4?

That is odd. MIne has two (not four). The other end of the fiber plugs into the back of the left/right/running light assmeblies. I can't imagine what the other two on yours connects to. The back up lights? Not likely. Do all of your rear lights work properly? ANy bulbs burned out anywhere?

The configuration is two fold: tail and brake, both left and right, hence four telltales

Here is the relevant information from the service manual. The Excella just has an extra set so you can monitor the tail lights too. Just fancier.
