Total Noob

Hello,

I bought a new basecamp last week and just brought it home yesterday. I'm a total newbie to Airstream as well as owning any type of trailer. Up until yesterday, with a few exceptions as a kid in my grandparent's trailer, I've only ever tent-camped. Still excited and a bit overwhelmed by the learning curve (damn trailer wants to turn too quick when backing), but I can't wait to take my silver beast out. First trip is an overnight on Sunday at a fairly close RV park. Next trip is two weeks later at a still w/in an hours distance, campground with full hook-up. I'll be honest, I'm just excited to not have to put the tent up and then try and get out of it at 3 am when I need to use the facilities. Oh yeah, and not have to crawl into a sleeping bag on the ground...getting a little too old and creaky for that.

Im not familiar with what is available on the Basecamp but you may want to get a copy of "The Newbies Guide to Airstreaming". Good information. Also, if you are having trouble backing try the attached link. I think this is a really well done video. The only thing I do different is i put my hand at 6 o'clock rather than 12. This way, if I want the end of the trailer to go left, I move my hand to the left. Small trailers can get away from you quickly so you are not alone. Also, try some of the Long Long Honeymoon Videos. Good information on just about everything.

Good Luck!
