Old but New

Hi All, This is Lolly and Van and we are new to Air Forum. I saw the gathering posted for May and thought it would be fun to join. We look forward to meeting all there overlooking Mt Adams.

Greetings from Colorado: I'm glad you decided to join up. I plan on attending my first Airstream rally this summer. I'm a new member to WBCCI after having our 86 Limited since 05. I've been a participant here on Air Forums for a number of years also. Retirement gives me more time.

I also enjoy the vintage Airstream hobby. I've done extensive work to our 86 Limited, then a 66 Trade Wind, then our son's 69 Globetrotter and now my 75 Overlander. I like working on these old trailers as much as traveling in them. My wife thinks gardening would be a lot cheaper hobby.

So tell us a little about yourselves and your Airstream adventures.

David

Hi David,

We have had other trailers when the kids were young. The best one was a 1969 Silver Streak 24'. We never left Washington state because of my demanding work schedule. My son slept in the shower and I built a hammock bed above our double bed. Used it while we built a 20' x 20' dry cabin over on our Cle Elum, WA lot. So now we are just getting ready to enter retirement and fixing up the '94 Excella 25' for future outings. Putting a flat screen and entertainment center and eventually new flooring and reupholster our couch in leather. We plan to do the snow bird winter trips south to get out of the cold rain of Washington. So many beautiful parks in south Utah, Arizona, New Mexico that requires a visit.

So my original training started in 1972 as a cabinetmaker. We did all commercial work for restaurants, hospitals, hotels, etc... Expanded across the nation for Skippers Fish and Chips, Restaurants Unlimited, their Cinnabon and high end restaurants.

Managed and part owner of a 14,000 sq ft cabinet shop for 9 years than ventured out on my own to build and install elevator cab interiors in Washington state.

That's my story,
Van
