Newbe From Indy or 1st Airstream Atlas
Hello from Indiana, I have been RVing since the early 70's VW, Tents, 5th wheel...
As for me I'm a retired Aircraft Mech. I have worked all over the world and Used to use my 5th wheel as a second home when i was contracting.
As for the new rig, I took delivery of my AS Atlas this last Jan 27th. (it just happened to be my birthday as well" From what the selling deanship said to me i just might be the 1st customer to take delivery of the Atlas. It was to be sold to some world traveler (they didn't tell me who) but they couldn't take delivery untill later this summer and canceled. After looking at the demo they had as the deanship i was told that they had one coming the next week if i was interested. I said yes and when i saw it i knew to was mine. After driving back home during a lucky break in the weather and just spending time getting used to it I have a few small quality control issues that i will have the factory take care of. All in all i quite happy and excited to get out there soon. So if your in the Indy area and see a new AS Atlas with RV plates and not dealer plates smile and wave....
See you on the road

Welcome from Colorado: I have to look the Atlas up and I don't even know what it is. Post a picture when you get a chance. I think it is a tribute to the brand to have a high tech mechanic like you select Airstream. You would have a great feel on how well they are built.
Enjoy...
David

Thx David. I went to Colorado Aerotech in Broomfield, CO. Back in the 80’s to get my A&P Lic. I’ll try to get pics as soon as I can. Yes I do know a bit about sheet metal but I’m more of an Avionics tech even though I have bucked my fair share of rivets in my time. The Atlas is fiberglass apart from the MB sprinter front end. The thing that really impressed me was it has NO SEAMS like all the other class b+ that are made! It looks looks looks like a finished unit and not some back yard project.

I know where Broomfield is. Good job on picking a career path early on. I can imagine aviation techs are in high demand.
Nice looking rig indeed. Being seamless will certainly add to the life of the vehicle. Thanks for the pictures. I had not seen one of these before.

New Atlas
Congratulations! Our Atlas is scheduled for delivery in June. We traded our much loved 2016 Interstate Grand Tour for the roomier Atlas. The larger bathroom and accessible Murphy bed offset the smaller galley area for us.
Thanks for posting and please keep us informed on the QC issues. From my experience, I am confident Airstream will make the fixes and improve going forward. The company is on a roll.
Enjoy the ride!

Welcome and congratulations! I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Atlas.
One question about the Atlas appeared on another thread a while back: what is the payload rating? Can you look at the yellow sticker on your driver's door frame and find that number?

New Atlas
Congratulations on your Atlas. We took delivery of our Atlas in late Feb. and believe we have one of the first on the left coast. Have taken a couple of short shakedown trips and so far and it has been very helpful during forced fire and mud flow evacuations from our home in Santa Barbara. Very pleased with our decision to take the leap. Systems seem very straight forward so are planning trips up the CA and Oregon coasts soon.

The Atlas is HISTORY!!!!
Hello all, After too many problems and just a lack of the selling dealer and the AS factory to respond to warranty issues or just no response at all after numerous texts and phone calls . enough is enough and as of today the AS Atlas is gone and have gone to a other brand. Sorry Airstream but if you want to keep 1st time buyer of your product DONT MAKE THEM PAY FOR WORK UNDER WARRANTY THAT WAS A PRODUCTION LINE MESS UP. ( radio was HOT WIRED to the body control mod in the sprinter that was causing all kinds of malfunctions I.E. sudden airbag deployment when driving down the interstate at 70MPH that MB fixed but AS wouldn't cover under warranty!!!! luckily no was hurt or killed just scared out of there wits. wife refused to ride in it after that incident.... So good luck to future ATLAS buyers as for me this once was too much!!!!

Hello! Nice to find another Atlas owner. We just purchased our AS Atlas July 31 and are loving it. We are new to camper camping, so all the "bells and whistles" are taking some time to get used to. We have taken 2 trips so far. The first one from NC to Maine (forced due to a hurricane coming) and just last week we went to the Va. mountains. My biggest issue is not feeling the love from other campers, including air streamers, because according to them we have "no rivets"?!?! Really??
