New to Airstreams 1982 34' Excella triple axle

We just bought our "new" Air Stream and towed it home last weekend. It is a little bigger than we wanted but seemed to be a great deal. I have been browsing the forums here for about a month while we were looking around. Seems to be lots of great information.

We are getting started on freshening up our Excella. Seems to be all original but in pretty good shape. Three of the windows have some kind of insulation or something that has slipped down between the panes. I was hoping I could fix it myself, but sounds like I'll wind up buying new windows to put in.

I uploaded a few pictures of the trailer where it sat when we first looked at it. (I think).

Looks good! Welcome to the blessing/calamity that is aluminitis.

It being springtime, you might want to get all the systems running, repack the bearings, adjust the brakes and go camping!

Lots of folks get all caught up in restoration and modification before they have ever spent a night in their new (to them) trailer. I recommend you spend the whole summer having as much fun in it as possible and the decide what changes you would like to make.

We have a 31' so we understand long trailers. It really isn't that big a deal. Grab up some empty cardboard boxes to use as obstacles and find yourself an empty parking lot to practice maneuvering. You will pick it up really fast. The long trailers are really stable and tow wonderfully.

Go forth and enjo,y the journey,

Mike

Take care of basic running and stopping gear and lighting to tow safely. Then camp... That is only way to shakedown.

Have to repair the AC heat pump... mouse lunched out on some wires... It is a journey.. not a destination. If you don't like 'fixin stuff', you are gonna hate your AS....
