New Airstream owners

Hello to all, My husband and I recently purchased a 1967 Overlander and we have been checking out all of the posts on the forum. We are very new at this whole thing. We would love input from anyone! Alot of work has to be done, but, we are very excited about the road ahead. Look forward to talking with you all. If anyone is around the Upstate South Carolina Area please let us know, we would love to find someone in our area that has some experience in all of this!

Welcome to the forums, and congratulations on your Airstream!

Please post pictures. We love pictures! You say a "lot of work needs to be done" you might want to explain. Can it be towed? Do parts work? How about the appliances, plumbing, etc. does any of that work? Is it missing stuff? Be specific.

If you are going to "start" on your project. First thing you will need to decide if you need to replace or repair the floor... if you can tow the 'stream then have all safety items first in line for repair and a good look see!

If you check out the blue toolbar at the top you can use the search function to type in a key word or phrase to find threads that discuss that topic. Floors, or water systems, plumbing, etc. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks so much for giving your advice. I was nice to hear from you. To be more specific about our 67 Overlander, we have started the cleaning process and checked some things out. The floor is in really good condition, there might be a support out underneath the bathroom, ot is a little soft back there, but, not rotting. No water damage. The ref. is gone, A/C does not work. We just found out yesterday that the water heater is busted. The person that had it before us, painted all of the mahogany white. We have soince stripped all the white and are gettung ready to restore the wood.Ut looks great wothout the paint. The cusions were there for the couch, but none for the twins. We also need a table that I believe folds by the couch. We have repaired some pipes, and ripped up the very badly laid floor linoleum. It is a process, but we are slowly getting there. We have yet to check the stove and oven to see if they are in good working order. Wish us luck. Hope to talk to you soon.

greyghost67, you have excellent taste for your year of Airstream! How are you planning on finishing the mahogany now that the awful white paint has been stripped? I'll second the request for pictures - I just love living vicariously through someone else's project (let's me procrastinate about my own projects!)

FWIW, the 1967 Airstream brochure lists the interior wood as "natural ash in the Land Yacht, and American cherry in the International series".
