I have always loved the aluminum camping trailers and since my wife wants a study remote from the house i thought we might find something that could do double duty as a study/guest room and as a camper as things get squared away with it. Since I live in a remote area on a wooded piece of property the site location could be constantly changed with no neighbors being the wiser. I enjoy browsing the for sale ads. Does this sound like a good plan to you?

Welcome! It's just fine to start a new member introduction thread. I think your plan sounds great (and I'm a little envious that you have enough property to move a trailer around - ours stays in one spot when it's in the driveway). Good luck with your search!

Sounds like a great plan...except if you want electrical, water & dump capabilities you may need to be a bit more teathered to one or two spots.

That sounds like a great plan. Our son in Tampa has a 19' Bambi that he keeps in his yard as an extra bedroom between trips. He has it set up with complete hook ups including sewer.

We also have full hook ups for our 25' Safari at SuEllyn's Dad's house in Jacksonville. He is about to turn 90, and we go over there quite a bit to give him a hand. It is really nice to our own place in his yard. He doesn't feel invaded and we have our privacy. We even tap into his cable and get 75 channels in the Airstream.

I have entertained that idea too. If you are too far from the house you will have to use a really heavy cable ( copper is expensive now). You most likely can't use plumbing during the cold months in Illinois ( Condensation and pipes freezing are the problems. There is a thread about four season camping somewhere in the forums) I almost came to the conclusion that a prefab shed would be cheaper an easier to insulate. Airsteams are made to travel and be light. Dave
