Need help repairing / replacing frame

[59Falcon]

The frame on my 22' 59 Falcon is quite rusted. I would like some advice from another owner who has been through this already. I am currently contacting shops to find someone to do the work.

Marvel 2" A-Frame Coupler

This frame looks to be in very good shape, but any professional welding shop can repair any weak sections. I would replace the front A frame with a new hitch coupler. The Falcon is one rare bird! Good luck.

You might thing about adding a grey tank at the same time, so your welder can build in provisions for attachment. Most welders can just build the new frame on top of the old one, using the old as a template. Some folks use square tubing instead of channel and even increase the frame height an inch or two for more choices on tanks. Another common modification is to convert the leaf spring axle to a torsion type.

Do you homework before you even talk to a fabricator. Have your shopping list complete on what you want done. Changing your mind midpoint during the fabrication is always very expensive and can slow down the project.

If you build a while new frame, you can send it off and have it galvanized as one whole unit. Then hit it with por 15. it will out last your grand kids!

Think about making the frame taller, to fit in taller tanks. If you make the main rails 8" tall you options for holding tanks go way up.

I can't imagine why you would por15 a galvanized frame, talk about overkill

I would definitely build a new frame capable of more weight capacity and bigger tanks. It is easy to do while you are at it.

Yep that is the plan, make sue the frame out lives me!! Plus all the welds are prone to rising.. So you got to have some thing there..
