We are just about ready to start frame repair on our "project" Airstream - a pretty rough 1963Sovereign. The central beams seem ok but what I think are called the stringers or "joists" front and rear are very bad and will need replacing. I thought I saw somewhere a supplier for pre-cut steel stringers but can't find it now. Does anyone know where they might be available in bundles for Airstreams?
The crossmembers for the early to mid 60's are a bit different. Greg at Inland told me to use 2 2" steel angle. I actually had some custom bent out of mild steel, piece of cake. Those outriggers look pretty shot. I chopped them off mine and bought em from Inland. Yours might have to be cut down a bit. Nothing an angle grinder cant fix.
Thanks for the info! I am going to start a new thread with more photos and of course more questions. We are using the search feature and learning so much.
