Pleased for your find. The resto threads around here are really great. It is obvious, too, that the support of members for each other is equal to that.

I went out and bought a laptop so far. Will be driving back to where the old gal is fairly soon to watch her load on the flatbed to go to Connecticut. I'll take a bunch of pictures for everyone. I have my work cut out for me but I'm waaaay too excited to be discouraged. The hardest part will be waiting until early summer to get started. I'll be in Florida until then (unless I just can't stand it and have to go north to start working).

Why not keep it in Florida somewhere to putter all winter then send it north?

keep it here......
there are a million people with nothing to do in florida for the next 6 months....take advantage of skill sets that may be found in your neighborhood then take it back home with you....or better yet just set the truck to your house up north load up all your stuff and just stay here...lots of cheap houses in florida now......

I wanted to bring it to my place in FL, but my husband wants to bring it to CT. Maybe it's some secret plot of his to be up to something while I'm not there. (he travels back and forth running/overseeing our business). I tried to convince him that there's plenty of qualified people to do the work i need help with- and things are cheaper in FL than up there, but he's somewhat stubborn and I didn't feel like fighting with him over it. *SIGH*

Why not use the weather to your advantage. Say FL in the Winter and CT in the Summer?

For those interested, I just posted a few more pictures in the members' photo section.. search under vintage, liner. I couldn't stay away, so I drove the three hours to go see her again. Also it's on the way to visit my husband's 102 yr. old mom, so it's a good excuse for a slight detour. All in all, after looking every night on this forum, I can now say that the shell is quite good. It's pretty straight and the blemishes are minimal when I look around at other trailers. (character). I have my work cut out for me, but it's going to be a fun learning experience and rewarding, I'm certain. Need to learn some things, for sure, but hope to figure it out through what's already posted, and if not I hope I don't bother folks by asking questions that might seem a bit silly. Ah well... somebody's got to do it!

Airdreamers=I'm in Safety Harbor for today- leaving later this afternoon to go back to Saint Augustine.
Bob34787= I would have liked to meet Frank but he has never been there every time I have... I would imagine he'd be an interesting person.

Actually, yes!! She was all excited about it! She was quite the adventuress in her day. Interesting note: she flew in planes with her brother and "lucky" Lindbergh - who was her brother's friend !! She's all for it.

Gator
Silverfoxrae,
I'd be willing to help you out....if I could ever realize my dream day job of becoming a Gator Wrassler at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. But, I'm too afraid of losing too many matches and people looking at my hands and calling me "Stubby." So, my wife says no gator wrasslin' for me
Seriously though, I love St. Augustine. Got engaged to my lovely bride there (who is now my wife of 12 years). It's a nice place.
Best of luck with your Airstream. I think it's awesome. I'm still trying to buy my grandpa's '58 Traveler which he refuses to sell. But I like your '47 even better!
take care,

JG~ good luck getting that '58! Maybe someday soon we'll meet up at a rally or the like and can swap tours The Alligator Farm is a cool place, but I wouldn't offer my hands to chance, either! If you're ever in town, give a shout.

47
Just wanting to know. How is the the 47 coming? My wife and I have a 48 Caddilac Sedanette that I've been working on forever. What a fantasy a 47 Airstream behind would be to tow behind. I'll watch your trailer project and work on that dream.

We're still waiting on the title. Then the holidays got in the way, but I'm hoping that it comes together soon. I'm getting anxious like a kid waiting for Santa.
