The inside antenna is the same candy bar that comes with the 4G-X.

You could build up something similar by buying the individual components.

Based on responses and reading, here is what I have come up with:
- booster is the weBoost Drive 4G-X (part 470510)
- upgraded external antenna is the SureCall Cm288w Omni directional
- upgraded internal antenna possibilities: Wireng DomeAerial compact dome ceiling, or Wilson Dt panel antenna upgrade (part 304447), or the weBoost/Wilson desktop antenna
The question with the internal antenna upgrades is if there could be interference with the external antenna. May not be able to achieve the separation that is required.
upon further investigation, the weBoost 4G-XR is an RV kit, as stated above, but is for an RV that is stationary and has a external antenna that has to be mounted in the direction of the cell tower. Also needs 20 ft of separation between the internal and external antennas.
Am I missing anything?
Thanks,

If you look at the specs, bands and power, there is really no point in that RV kit. Especially when you can fix the weak points for half the cost of the 4G-X.
Also, consider the Drive 4G-M for price point. The X boosts GPS signal as well, and you might not even care about that.

If you want some real world test data sign up for www.rvmobileinternet.com. Operated by the Technomadia team they are doing some extensive comparison tests of various boosters and antenna combinations. At least for Verizon the 4G-X is usually outperforming the 4G-M.

The 4G-X is a good way to go for Verizon. I chose to go with the small desktop antenna vice the area one.

Subjective opinion here, they don't do real testing. Sorry, I can run speed test myself and get different results each time. If they used actual RF meters and measured power of antenna's and things to see if the equipment did what it claimed that'd be another story. Their tests are highly subjective to a lot of variables.
All the info they post you can get for free with a google search.
I own the cradle, the Drive 4G-M and the Drive 4G-X.

Weboost install
Also for whatever it's worth, I get signal in my entire 31 ft trailer with the Wilson DT4G, which is now the Weboost Home 4G. I have the exterior antenna up front, and the amplifier and desktop antenna in the rear bedroom.

Wireless Cellular Booster - Good Idea?
I have the Wilson Electronics Sleek 4G Kit - 460107 - available on amazon for $100. But I also use a Wilson 311125 antenna for an extra signal boost. Together they add 1-3 bars to my cellular data reception - even in marginal areas. I haven't wanted to drill any holes and use velcro on the base of the antenna and put it out when I'm stopped. I use a cellular data MiFi unit in the cradle which provides a strong enough wifi to use in the trailer or in the immediate outside. You could go with a better antenna now if you're drilling any way.
And yes a SatPhone for times when there is no cellular at all. I have an Iridium Extreme 9575 Satellite Phone which came with it's own solar recharger and a larger folding Brunton Solaris 26 solar panel which can recharge the phone and laptop fairly quickly. It's as big folded out as the one you will be buying.
I have an Iridium AxcessPoint WiFi which hooks up to the Extreme and my laptop or mobile phone and provides for "burst" data transmission. It collects all the emails you want to send and sends them in a 15 second burst - then receives any emails in another 15 second burst. So most regular emails in less than a minute which is a good thing considering my satphone service costs $1.00 per minute.
I also have the GEOS Emergency Monitoring which provides for global emergency rescue or medical help all over the world.

I've ordered the weBoost Drive 4G-X and 12 inch antenna for my 2014 23D. I'm wondering what the best method of antenna attachment might be.
I appears that the magnetic mount antenna requires a metallic mounting interface in order to take advantage of the critical ground plane effect.
What have you guys done to achieve this on your Airstream's roof? Where have you found the best place on the roof for antenna placement?

What have you Surecall Omni and WeBoost 4G-X users found to be the optimal separation between the Omni and the inside antenna?
I've decided on the Drive 4G-X and Surecall CM288W Omni antenna. Since the antenna has built-in ground plane I'll have more mounting options than with the magnetic antenna.
I'm thinking of attaching it to a solar panel wing nut and using standoffs on the aluminum skin while routing it though the fridge vent cover. This is a temporary arrangement for an upcoming trip. I'd like to route it through the roof at some point in the future.
I can drill a hole through the fridge enclosure near the TV for the antenna lead and mount the 4G-X and inside antenna on the wall near the TV. The unit can either be powered by the AC outlet on park power or from the AC inverter outlet. My Verizon Jetpack MiFi could be attached to the wall using velcro.

Here is how I attached the Truckers antenna to the mast of the winegard antenna on the 19' Bambi.
Will do the same thing with either a Surecall or Wilson marine antenna for the 23FB.

I used the original magnetic antenna on a 6" steel disck that I mounted to the top of the AC shroud.
I don't think it worked very well so I am replacing it with the Truckers/RV antenna like the one in post 73. I also bought a new inside antenna to replace the Hershey Bar.

I installed a Surecall on the corner of a solar panel. I've yet to route it into the trailer. Trying to figure out the best way....where to enter the trailer.

On the Bambi, I drilled a hole for both the antenna cable and the Shakespeare Sirius marine antenna. The Shakespeare was mounted over the hole. I can take a picture once it stops snowing........

I installed the Wilson Marine antenna on the 23FB, but also have a SureCall Omni antenna that I could easily use instead.
Does anyone have any insight into which would offer the best performance?
Many thanks,

This is what I use.

I had to buy an adapter because the connector was the bigger coax and the booster has the smaller one.

Thanks for the info! Improved strength with panel antenna over candy bar?

I haven't been able to connect the outside antenna yet, so I don't know. Will give it a shot this weekend.

Tested it today. Failed miserably. I gave up and bought a Verizon Jetpack. Verizon offers better service in my RV park than AT&T. I hate to pay Verizon when I have so many AT&T devices, but my weBoost experiment did not work.
