Unless I spend the 15 minutes with a wrench to remove it.

I still think a hidden brake away switch, wired in at the back of the trailer with the cable hooked to a pin in the ground, would sure slow down a crook as all the brakes would come on and they wouldn't know what happened.

I will say it takes some computer/electronic know how to get it to work.

Does the board have an open I/O that would accept a proximity sensor that could trigger a text msg or email?

Or just a minute with a short piece of logging chain and a hook. Might not make it out of town, but at least I'll make it to my shed and out of sight.

So sorry to hear about your Airstream being stole. Please post a VIN number and or a picture soon so that we can help. This is a topic near and dear to everybody here on this forum. They will keep an eye out for it physically and in any "for sale" postings.

Sorry to hear this!
Suggest you post more details such as any distinguishing details, window configuration, dings etc.. A photo or two would help IMO. Maybe post only the last 6 digits of the VIN, not the entire number.
Welcome to the forum, and sorry for your baptism by fire.
Good luck . . . a recent theft in Las Vegas was solved FYI.

STOLEN 1969 31st SOVEREIGN INTL
Thanks Everyone- yep pretty heartbreaking, here are some images and more info:
Stolen from Van Nuys, CA at 5:12 am on Tuesday 5th March.
Trailer is completely gutted- no floor, frame exposed, no interior skins, insulation exposed. Very fragile.
Has the unique triple front window formation that all '69's have. No plates.

Thanks for the photos . . . at least that is a pretty unique Airstream and easy to identify. When you have time, could you check the questions and links in Post #28, because if there is a Twitter feed already going, I imagine folks here could widen the net being cast, to catch the scoundrels!
Thanks,
Peter

So sorry to hear this, Kim!
Are you familiar with the Las Vegas theft thread, which seems to suggest there is a ring at work in the West:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...as-187202.html
Is this theft reported in any local news sites?
Good luck, and please keep us updated.

Any progress by the police in tracking this?
Are the links in Post #28 for the correct PD?
Thanks,

Hi Steve, Yes, she was found, about 8 miles from home. There was a little damage and some things were stolen but otherwise, she is home and safe. We will park our car in front of the driveway until we can upgrade our security. They broke in through the back window, smoked a few cigarettes and slept in our bed, at least they didn't use the bathroom, although it would have given the PD good evidence! Thank you, and the Airstream tribe for your concern - Kim

To help others prevent this, what security did you have in place at the time, and how did they defeat it to haul her away? It would be generous of you to teach us more about what looks like it will secure the trailer, but winds up being insufficient.

Hopefully, the cigarette butts have enough dna that could be used later.
