I had the flooring in my '94LY redone. The dinette booth, chairs (driver, co-pilot & barrel seat) were removed, along with the ice maker and the bed (over the engine in the rear). The carpet was removed and 1/4-inch plywood glued and screwed to the subfloor. All screwheads, cracks, minor imperfections were covered with filler and sanded down. A template was made of the entire interior flooring and used to cut a high-quality linoleum that looks and feels just like hardwood flooring. The linoleum was glued into place, and all 1/4-rounds, bullnoses etc were fastened into place. The trim (1/2-rounds, etc) were all made of oak and stained and finished to match the cabinets in the motorhome. I was at Bozeman, and the job elicited favourable reviews from all who saw it. This installation was done by Steve Garbacz, who has worked on Airstream products for a number of years. Steve also does the clearcoat finishing on Airstreams under subcontract to some AS dealers. For the small bit of floor that is the raised portion for the driver, I had Steve install heavy rubber matting.
While I had originally contemplated hardwood flooring, I ended up with the linoleum because I travel with dogs, and accidents are easily cleaned up with no residue or damage to the flooring.
