Repairing Vinyl covered trim... Kit tested.

I had a small cigarette burn from a PO below the parking brake on the center console on my Mercedes... and it had been bugging me for a while...
I had bought a Permatex Vinyl Repair kit for another job many years ago, but never used it.
It has a bunch or colored repair pastes, some grain sheets and a small heating iron, etc.
Like this...
http://www.permatex.com/products/Aut...Repair_Kit.htm

I decided to give it a try... and wanted to share the results as I can think of some unwanted screw holes etc in the dash top cover of the Airstream I will fill!

Cleaned and sanded the damaged area to remove the crater.

Mixed the color, and applied it to the crater...

Applied the grain sample and cured the repair with the heating iron...
End result...

Its pretty darn good, and the picture makes it look worse than it is in real life... my buddy came over and I told him what I did, and in the garage under reasonable lighting he could not see where the repair was.
