Pressure

I've had my 345 for about a year the trips I've taken I'vee filled the tires to 90
YA it rides like a truck, but then it is a truck
My front bags (I replaced the leaky originals) I run at 50
And DO make sure the rear air suspension works my tag axel is a bit messed up because I beleieve the PO rode with it low or not at all😡
I will say if you don't like attention this is NOT the vehicle to own😆

A couple more photos

Here are a couple more photos. Thanks for the info on pressures. Another question: do the rear airbags get automatically inflated via the compressor? I am presuming they do.

Yes, the compressor is in the bedroom under the streetside cabinet.
You should have an air pressure gauge on the dash to tell you if its working...

Very VERY nice looking coach, and well kept, you should be proud!

Number 1 tip for owning an Airstream Classic motorhome.....Never presume or assume anything with your rig.

Always check air pressures, bags and tires. Nasty surprises, and I do mean really nasty surprises come to people that presume and assume that because the outer dually tire has air, the inner one has air too. The damage caused by a deflated or blown tire due to overheating is epic and very expensive.

Yes, rear bags are filled by your compressor, HOWEVER, don't assume that your compressor is working. A friends 325 has the compressor is at the very back under the bed and it can't be heard running while underway over the clatter of his diesel. A pressure gauge mounted by the dash tells you that you have air at a glance at anytime. It could also warn you of an impending failure of your compressor.

As Steve said in his post; beautiful coach.

Cheers
Tony

That's right, I recall it from the test drive now and it was working.
Thanks for the compliments, we're very excited about it, with a healthy dose of reality that this is now a 28 year old vehicle. It has been well-maintained, so I'm crossing my fingers for a relatively uneventful initiation.

Agreed on the assumptions! As I think of the things that need to be attended to I'm asking about the things I am not sure of. I appreciate the feedback so far.

Nice looking 345. The lighter gray makes for a nice soft contrast with the aluminum. Get ready for some attention and thumbs up. I just went to gas station and had 2 guys come up to me wanting to know what year the 310 was. You would think that by now everyone knows about these driveable Airstreams...There must be more people on this planet than I thought

Ah, another Prince of Darkness masochistic owner. Brad has Triumphs, I have a Jag and looking for a MGB GT V8 and Steve's into Alfa's and Land Rovers; you're going to fit right in.

I actually have a set of personlized licence plates that read "NT A JP" off my Toyota BJ 60 Landcruiser diesel; which incidentally will go on the "Mistress" next year as they are now charging for reactivating licence tags for regular licences, but not personalized ones; go figure.

Cheers
Tony

That's a cool rig. I have to say that I like that there's not only a lot of knowledgable people here, but also people with a sense of humor.

New to me 345 - picking up Monday

The ultimate form of self-abuse, IMHO, is owning and self-maintaining a fleet of Volvo cars. At one point we had 5 of the darn things, and my parts guy recognized my voice, I called him so often.

Old Volvos are the ultimate punishment for being an engineer and mechanic

We now have a fleet of Toyotas, and a lot less pain, breakdowns, and busted knuckles😄😄😄😄

I've become less masochistic in my old age...

Norwegian/German lover of machinery that bit off more than was worth chewing on with the Volvos.

We won't talk about my Dad's Hillman Minx or the two blessed Fiat 500 and 600 nightmares

You guys?
Might as well keep DHC1 entertained whilst he is waiting until Monday. He only has to wake up 3 more times.
So, Steve, you are the one who invented the word "whilst", shame on you, it has cost me a fortune already.
RMkrum, my first car was a Fiat 500, I think it was a 1962 model, my second a Fiat Jagst 770.
I owned soo many VW microbusses that I could pull the engine in 30 minutes. And then one day, I saw an Airstream Motorhome.....
the rest of my life has been well documented here.

New to me 345 - picking up Monday

The Fiat 500 had an aluminum air cooled engine. It had a very soft alloy and bolts and studs pulled out before they were fully tight. We had a motorcycle shop install helicoil thread inserts in an effort to keep it together for more than a few weeks. The exhaust fittings were the worst.

The 600 was water cooled, made if alloys that corroded massively. It also had a plastic gas line right next to the battery cable down the center of the interior. Of course the cable was prone to shorting out and trying to set the gasoline line on fire.

After the 600 tried to blow up, my dad got rid of it and bought a Volkswagen Beetle.

I still won't buy a Fiat....
