Mike's Classic 350 LE

Greetings Kind Classic-ists!

Recently brought home the 350 you might have seen in the MHs For Sale thread. This is the first RV of any kind I've ever driven, or owned!
Zero problems, and it now sits in a storage lot adjacent to our business. (Sheet metal fab.)
I believe I got a fair deal, as I knew what to look for, thanks to the people here! I've read acres of threads here in the AS Forums.

As a start, I'd like to list all the work this unit has had done in the last 2 years. It is extensive. And wonderful!
Your comments most welcome. Pics to follow, if it ever stops raining...

This is all new stuff!

Some initial questions:

The Maxi Brake cylinder is a "spring brake", but to what system is it attached? It was a $950 part.

"Worm Gear Hose"? What ever could that be? Or is that just a hose clamp for the fuel sending unit?

It never occurred to me when I bought her that she would fit thru the door of our shop. What luck!
As long as she runs and drives, I can work on her on the weekends. Inside!

Bummer: Rear hatch cracks. I suppose these are unobtainium?

OK, a thousand questions follow.....

There are numerous electrical issues.

This switch bank isn't, original, is it?
Only the ceiling sw. works.

Under sink wiring:
A small fire? And plenty of hackery.

Inverter?
The bottom "inverter" switch is disconnected. Did these units come with an inverter originally?
If so, it's gone now.

Top switch is indeed my battery switch.

Cracked threshold.
Couldn't find the part from the usual suspects.
Maybe I'm using the wrong search term?

The larger top switch looks like a battery disconnect sw.

Captains chairs held together by grime alone.
Got my eye on some new Flexsteel units, but holy moley, the $$$!
The power bases are good, and work(!), so there's that.
Thought about reupholstering, but not fond of the style. Way too busy.

Would any kind streamer happen to know if the new Voyager gear can use the same wiring as the old stuff?

Electrical hackery? That is bone stock Airstream workmanship at its finest my friend. The small fire is to notify owners that ignore the initial smoke in the cabin. Airstream kindly supplies a 5lb fire extinguisher to combat such situations.

An Airstream Classic large fire will occur when your 30 year old fuel lines, compromised by Ethanol, crack and allow fuel to spray all over your red hot 454 headers. Sorry, but Airstream doesn't supply the fire truck needed to put out that blaze.

BTW, we have lost many of these Queens of the Roads over the past few years to fuel fires. Those rubber fuel lines should be the first things you replace, if they haven't been replaced already.

Goodluck and nice shop, (looks like the one I use to have use off)
Cheers

Must be my eyes, but I can't see any crack?.........Any crack can be fixed by a plastic welder; look in the phone book or Google plastic repairs in your area.

Stop being nit picky.....she's almost older than my children's combined ages. We Classic owners call it "patina". Very cool to have patina.

Cheers

The WFCO converter has got to go. Buzzing like a banshee.

You folks like "BestConverter.com", right?
Which unit do you recommend?

The Samlex EVO looks mighty tempting, for future solar, etc.

Hi Tony:
Indeed, I wouldn't care but for the possibility of water getting under there and rotting the floor.
I guess I could fab one out of SS (that's what we do) but.....

Hey Tony, thanks for the heads-up on the fuel issue!
Is there a go-to thread for that here?

Stock electrical hackery. Love it!

I think these are the lines in question. About 6 inches from the exhaust pipe.

In other news, I found the Maxi Brake cylinder I was wondering about.
It is the actuator for the AutoPark system.
But it is powered by compressed air, as opposed to a hydraulic pump.
I wonder what year they changed?

2nd Pic:
How 'bout some mechanical hackery for a change.
A previous "technician" snapped off a dist cap screw and just left it.
But he did secure that side with a tie-wrap, bless his heart.

Contact Steve (Keyair). He is considering making some rear hatches out of fiberglass and is wondering how many are interested in buying one.
