Wiper Motors / Grearbox

Has anyone rebuilt these? I noticed this weekend that mine are pretty loose. When traveling above 30mph the wind grabs the drivers side and whips it into the upright position. My guess is that it wont take too long for that to get seriously broken if it keeps getting grabbed like that.

Maybe you're just driving to fast...

However, in answer to your question yes the wiper mechanisms can be rebuild. The question would be just which parts are worn out.

AM Equipment should have all the parts you need for a rebuild.

Thanks Brad! I wish I could have been driving that fast in it! My rig doesnt do more than 70ish. I've come close to 80 in it but I do not feel comfortable at those speeds.

If your steering isn't up to snuff then driving that fast can have one's life flash before their eyes

I know this from first hand experience from the maiden voyage of my old 310

I went through the whole front end! Everything is nice and tight with the exception of some upper control arm bushings, fixed 'em. I actually trust the Argosy more than any of my 3 trucks which are all form the 90s.

If your 90s trucks are anything like my 2000 F250 SD I understand what you mean

I know this is an old post but they had the parts I need to repair my wipers on our 75 twin Argosy. Pam and I have been getting plenty of use out of it. We are still pulling the Mini Cooper Clubman went over scales total axel weights 13,500 lb with Mini. 5 weeks in Southern Utah in March and April then 3 weeks in the SD Mt Rushmore area. Currently on the Oregon Coast for couple of weeks. Did have to rebuild the transmission after SD the trans brake gave up the ghost. Happy travels

Hi - I'm not sure if they are the same as my 1991 250, but I have replaced them and the wiper control module (if you have one). It resolved similar issues to the problem you are describing. It's a pretty straightforward job, but really fiddly getting the stuff tightened up snug. You're working blind. I used mirrors and a flashlight. Be careful when you take the wipers off the knurled piece, they are spring loaded and under considerable pressure.
