Argosy MH bumper

I am considering the purchase of a 78 Argosy 28 ft. Part of the rear bumper is missing (right end). I tried contacting some dealers but I could not believe the answers I got. One said he was only a dealer for 3 weeks and did not know if he could help. One other said that they were an Airstream dealer and he had never heard of an Argosy!! Inland RV said they would get back to me. They were the only ones who seemd to know their parts. My questions are: Is this part available? Is the whole bumper available? Any idea as to cost? Any sources for a used bumper? Any suggestions for a GOOD dealer? Thanks

It depends on the model year.

If it is a 74/75 the only source will be a bone yard. The 77 on up is the same bumper as the Classic MH used into the early 90's. Another dealer to try is Ace Fogdall 800-747-0747 They have been a dealer forever and the parts folks will be able to at least tell you if it is even available.

Argosy rear bumper

I have been watching for an airstream motor home to use for a parts vehicle.

On 04/08/04 I stopped in a junky little used car lot on US Highway 31 at the North end of Pulaski, TN. I briefly examined a 1978, Argosy, 24' passenger-type bus. The bumpers were in good condition. I did not inquire about the asking price, because, other than the bumpers nothing matched my 1979, 28' Excella MH. The tires were still inflated, but the rig has been on the car lot for a couple of years.
