Bambi refridgerator freezer door

Getting the little beauty ready for our first trip and all WAS going well. My wife just came into the house and said the freezer door wouldn't close. I checked it out, and the door is closing but not staying closed...drops down to the open position. Did a quick check and figured this is the place I should ask the question. Does anyone know what the problem could be and know of a way to repair so it will automatically stay closed when shut? (no damage noticed) Keys here we come.....hopefully with a freezer door that close:

If it's the fold down door, there is a coil spring at one end, I believe that holds the door closed. I had one fail once in one of the smaller refrigerators, and the parts are available from the manufacturer.

However, in an emergency and not to delay your trip, I would try using some of the stick on Velcro temporarily.

I believe you're correct. The Velcro sounds like a great idea. I was thinking small magnets, but the Velcro sounds much better. Also, I can't figure how to get the door out to repair once I get the parts. Do you know if it is a do-it-yourself project? Thinks for input.

I repaired mine after getting the spring and one other part, I believe, but it's been several years, and just don't remember exactly.

seveH,

At the computer now with my Dometic ref book and looking up freezer door removal. There is nothing about removal in the information supplied. Many thanks for your input. Tom
