2018 16' Sport Bambi!
Hello members,
I will soon be a first time owner of an Airstream 16' Sport. However when I saw an advertisement from a dealer on the 2018 version-the ad lists details that the Bambi has separate grey/black water tanks as opposed to the 2017 version that combines them.
Any truth to this, any further info on updates to the 2018 16' Sport?
Waiting to see a 2018 in person to verify.
thanks for any information regarding the 16'Bambi, I look forward to seeing you on the road.
Charles

Hi
Congratulations !!!!
We are in an interesting limbo land right now. All incoming trailers are 2018's. Some of those trailers have been purchased by people. There is no published / public data on them. Inevitably there will be updates on the 2018's that are pretty cool. What they all are, who knows? At this point there is only speculation.

my dealer gave me a list of 2018 changes and I don't see anything regarding this.
the sport specific changes are..
New shutoff at shower head, removable showerhead mounted on the wall (16 sport), aluminum added to the bottom of galley overhead cabinet (22 sport)

Congratulations. Our 2017 16' Bambi Sport is a charmer all round. If the 2018 model has the black and gray water tanks separate I'd be non pulsed. We've owned many RV's and travel trailers all having separate holding tanks. When we bought the 2017 16' Bambi I didn't even know these tanks were combined. Not a problem for us, though my preference would be to separate vs combine. Why? A "gray water" tank fills up quickly and can be emptied much more easily than a"black water" tank which generally fills less quickly. Your individual use of the systems will matter. If you use the sink and shower and toilet a lot then emptying same becomes an issue. Bottom line if you intend to use all trailer systems a lot be happy with separate tanks. If you will use campground facilities it will not make much difference. Good camping in all cases.

Hi
I'm guessing the dealer's handout was correct. The separate tanks stuff was just a rumor ...

If the 2018 has separate grey and black, that will be a new feature on the 16'. I'm thinking all 16' models are combined grey and black. Mine is, and it's a 2006.

Hi
The obvious question becomes: If they simply split the single tank capacity in half into the two new tanks, would you accept that? Do two 10.5 gallon tanks do more good than a single 21 gallon tank? Indeed two 21 gallon tanks would be better than a single 21 gallon tank. Weight / volume / balance wise that's not generally how things work out. Actually, once you do the split, 21 gallons probably goes to one 9 gallon and one 7 gallon due to added lines, supports, and valves.
