Anyone up for a little weekend rally ??

Group :

The wife & I were wondering if there may be any other folks from (or
near) South-Western Ontario that would like to get together for our
Canadian May long weekend & head down to see this place...

http://www.junglejims.com/index.asp

We've never been to Jungle Jim's...but we saw a "TV bit" a while ago on
the place & it looks like fun.

I don't know if there is an RV park nearby or if we could just boon-
dock there, however, since there's a fair amount of time to work out
all the details, I was hoping to see if any other Canadians might want
to go with us for the journey.

Also...if any of you have been there, perhaps you could tell us a bit
about the place.

Thanks in advance to those who respond

Oh, it'll be fun all right! It's huge - it'll take time and you'll not be able to get out without buying something! It truely is International! Not far away is a very large antique mall just in case some are interested in doing some antique shopping while in the area. I'm guessing there's plenty of places to stay for a night or so - their parking lot is huge and could accommodate several overnighters but I don't know how they feel about that. I would guess a phone call would answer such questions. You'll have a good time and it's not hard to find. Good luck putting something together - it might be fun to join you for the evening - with or without our AS.

Caesar Creek State park is within reasonable driving distance and is a nice park. There is also this campground in Waynesville, OH - Waynesville is full of antique stores. Frontier Campground
Also check out attractions near Xenia, Ohio which is also near. John Bryan State Park is very nice also and very scenic. Enjoy your trip. John Bryan State Park

Also check out Hueston Woods State Park (Ohio), about 40 minutes from Jungle Jim's.

You should call and ask about a boondocking/rally in Jungle Jim's parking lot. He seems to be a fan of things unusual. Zoning or who knows what may be an issue but it seems like a fun thing in which "Mr." Jungle Jim would be in favor.

It is a fun place. Our kids often beg to go there, when we are in the area.

Boy, that sure looks good! Too bad my doctor just put me on heavy-duty drugs and ordered me to lose weight fast.

If you are talking about a weekend in May next year, we might very well be up for it. The wife and I hit Jungle Jims a couple of times a year. I used to live just up the road when it used to be a small fruit stand. His next project is installing a monorail system – what a hoot! Plan on spending the day and a of of money!

Keep us posted of your plans.

Oh Lynn, you should go see it! They have a HUGE selection of fruits and vegetables and healthy food sections. FRESH fish (still swimming), vegetarian section, organic section, some fruits and veggies I bet you've never seen before!

Thumbs up Sounds like fun! Great link!

Thanks for posting the link and all the nearby campgrounds folks! Wow that Jungle Jim's looks like a great place, I think I had heard nice things about it from Jamie (dougjamie) before.

Is that Canadian 'May long weekend' the same as our Memorial weekend which will be May 23-26, 2008?

We probably should. Nothin' around here to eat but really good, but unhealthy stuff.

So, PaulO...You keep bumping this thread but still haven't told us non-Canadians which actual dates you are referring to for this potential rally. Let us know! Sounds like several of us might be interested.

Mrs_RedSHED/Tin Sista & others...

So sorry folks...

Our next "Canadian" May long weekend will be on May 17-18-19 2008 (Sat, Sun, Mon)...as it's alway held on the weekend prior to the US long weekend.

I suppose this is done so we can all head across the border, whoop it up with our US friends...& then have the Monday to make it back home !!

I'm going to call Jungle Jim's today & see about boon-docking.

Hopefully they may just allow us to stay on site.

Film at eleven...

Many keep mentioning Jungle Jim's HUGE selection of foods. I quickly remind you that he has an equally HUGE selection of wines to go with all those foods! And of course, the beer......

mmmmmmmm, b-e-e-e-r...

Actually, one of the reasons my wife and I go there is for their beer making supplies -- and the cheese, and the deli, and the fresh fish, and Louisiana cooking spices and...
