Hi to all; Those of you who have missed this great rally, you have missed a whole lot. Rally was truly a blast. Hail to the Chief Rob Baker and his lovely wife Zoe who have provided everything imaginable to make this rally a great success. From never ending food supply to drinks, to providing few cords of firewood courtesy of Rob's family, to big top tent and the pavilion which provided shelter for many activities such as "Sons of Ireland" musical entertainment Saturday night. Frank has worked his tail off with Rob making sure that all went well, as it did. They even polished one Airstream on Saturday morning. What better example of friendship could one ask for. We met a bunch of wonderful people
which will leave us with long lasting and pleasant first time impression.
Me and my wife Margaret Kay wish to thank all involved to make this great event happen. Thanks, "Boatdoc"

Not enough words

Wow, what a great rally, and a powerful example of the Airstream Spirit. The members of the WDCU are the best, especially Wayne and Linda who loaned me a tow vehicle(!), and Rob, Frank, Doug and Wayne (and all of the others who lent a hand, power cord or generator) who POLISHED MY TRAILER! A weekend I'll never forget.

Deborah, It was a pleasure. I like your "during", but this "after" tells a greater story in my opinion.....

Rob Baker's Installation Rally was the first rally that I have attended. What a fantastic experience it was! I met so many wonderful, fascinating people, made so many new friends, and had a completely enjoyable time. My kids also had the time of their lives, and were quite disappointed when I told them that our next rally won't be until the Cherry Blossom Rally next spring. Unfortunately, I had to work Saturday and Sunday, so I missed out on some of the activities and was unable to be fully immersed in the camaraderie that was so evident all weekend.
However, living so close to the rally site was also a blessing, as I would not have been able to attend if the rally had been held far away. If you were able to take a look at my trailer over the weekend, you could tell that it is very much a "work in progress". My 61 Ambassador is missing it's bedroom, bathroom, all plumbing, electrics, and even it's lower inner skins in the back. I bought the trailer in February and worked through the summer to repair the rusted through frame and rotten floor and get it back on the road. My goal became to attend Rob's installation rally, and with the help of my kids and some wonderful friends, we were able to park in the wagon wheel at North Norwich. My kids have become even more enthusiastic about Airstreams thanks to the rally, and I have been re-energized to continue my trailer's renovation. I have also become enthusiastic about polishing my trailer and making it pretty. I have always liked the aged, pewter patina that a vintage Airstream takes on, but when parked in a field with all of those other gorgeous trailers, mine starts to look a little bit "junky" (as my youngest son, Josh, put it). I assured Josh that with sandblasting and painting the wheels, some baby moon hubcaps, and a whole lot of polishing, out trailer can be just as nice as the other trailers out there. Well, maybe not as nice as Rob Baker's, but still nice. I also assured the boys that there would be plenty of opportunity for them to help me out in the shop and learn how to use all kinds of power tools, especially rotary polishers.
Thank you, WDCU. Thank you for making a new guy feel at home. Thank you for bringing your kids. Thank you for making me feel good about the WBCCI again.

See you at the CBR.

Thumbs up Our First Wagon Wheel!

The WDCU rocks!

This was a GREAT rally. Zoe and Rob did an outstanding job pulling this thing off. And Frank's spirit and enthusiasm is simply infectious. Thank you for all for your hard work and for making a difference in this old club of ours. As NEU members we felt welcomed and embraced by kindred spirits.

Quite simply, we had a wonderful time. Howe Caverns is a lot of fun in that cheesy sort of way if you let yourself get into it. And mom had a surprisingly good time at Cooperstown with her boys. The weather cooperated nicely and the scenery all around was absolutely breathtaking. We somehow managed to turn our 4.5 hr trip home into a 9 hour leaf peeping grand tour through NY!

Good luck to all of the recently installed officers and Thank You for a wonderful weekend.

Deborah, your trailer looks great! You couldn't find a nicer bunch of people who would be willing to pitch in and polish. The WDCU is the BEST!

Looks like everyone had a great time. Wish I could have joined in, maybe next year y'all. Congrats to Rob and all our new unit officers.

2008 WDCU Installation Rally

Sugerfoot, we missed you. It was a grand event. The trailers were parked in a circle...thanks to Rob and Frank. There was a pavilion,heat,tent...cozy. Super people from many states sharing conversation and activities. The younger set did "trick or treat". Fun for all. It was sad to have it end so quickly. Looking forward to meeting again. This Rally style is worth repeating again and again.

So much food. Places to go and visit. Spent time with a wonderful group.
And Zoe prepared a delicious Turkey Harvest Dinner. Pot luck was a variety of foods and some of the BEST Pennsylvania Becky Fudge. Star, I enjoyed your toss salad. And Linda B can make a chocolate cake from scratch to "leave your diet". And the Kay, from Pennyslvania made her Cheese Cake. And more and more......everyone did a delicious Pot Luck.

And Kim, I want the name of the Designers ?...who made your chairs.
Forgot? The Canadians were fun and thanks Doug for teaching me Kodak. Ken, from New Jersey....thanks for the healthy fruit.

Thanks to all that attended....you all contributed to a super Rally. Aria
