I was almost in Q-Town today. Went to a remote location at exit 56 on I-10 (Holvatter Rd). The weather was great, I think the wind had died!

If we go, and you join us for the first night, we will stop in Palm Springs. Probably about like the Temecula run for you, timewise. Ron

Uwe has mentioned in the past a place in desert Hot Springs he really likes, maybe he can offer a suggestion in the Palm Springs area.
Brother, where art thou...is that right?

That seems like about the right distance.
The only campground (it was really an RV parking lot) that I saw in Palm Springs
on the way home from 29 Palms was awful
so I would be open to trying somewhere else nearby.
Yoo hoo Oovay!

You're right. It isn't really PS. I tend to refer to everything down that way as the Springs. I had a meeting down there a year plus ago and we stayed south of PS. It was a pretty nice park. I'll dig up the name and location and post it here soon. R

We're not fer shur just yet. Still waiting for some house news. I think that we will have to pick a deadline pretty soon. If we haven't got word on Baja by Monday ( the 10th) or so, we will go to Q. Judging by how things have progressed, or not, so far, I think we'll see you in the desert. Ron

I got to warn you all.
I'm teaching myself how to bake deserts so I'm gonna try a pineapple upsidowner in a cast iron pan for the potluck.
I figure it'll go one of two ways. Either it will be eatable or the dogs will be feasting. Sorry I forgot the third option. FOOD FIGHT!!!
Artstream,
Your photography is stunning. Beautifull framing, colors and shadows.

All food, whether worried about by the cook or not, will be eaten...not a mandate, just a fact. I look forward to a dutch oven treat...generally, food fights occur when every one is lining up for seconds when some haven't had firsts be there early, stay late, and save room for all of it...
WINDY, again, today, but should die down late this evening probably no campfire, tonight...
Saw a really unusual AS MoHo over the last three days...called a SLIPSTREAM...according to Rob(the owner), there were only 8 made...some aircraft techs, in Sydney, British Columbia, took AS trailers and converted then into 4WD(!!!) vehicles...Chevy chassis, Perkins diesel, Allison tranny...
an amazing craft. Chopped the front and rear bonnets, mounted it, and pressed new Al panels, which were then pop-riveted to match the original AS rivet spacing. The inside looks like a long Excella...couch, two chairs, kitchen, double bed center, and bath in back...the rear tires are double axle set(no duallys) with the back set of tires being main drive, and the front set of back tires being tag-axles, until the manual, belt-driven 4WD is engaged...then all 4 back tires are driven...I'll post pics, when I can get Tracy to do the hard stuff...I LOVE DISCOVERIES LIKE THIS!!!
Ahem...where was I ?...oh, yeah, Quartzsite rally...well, it's kinda related...Rob said he might drop by if they get back from Mexico by then...but, he's retired, and has no specific schedule...must be nice...oh, that's right, IT IS.
Where is everyone? We're waitin...
mike

It was windy this afternoon in Phoenix today also. Hang in there for one more week Mike, I am sure you will have company soon.
I am thinking about doing a dutch oven breakfast thing Saturday morning. Some sausage, mushrooms, onion, hash browns, eggs, green chili and a little cheese. Maybe roll some up in a tortilla with some salsa. Sound good?
I got the M-Ball ready to load and can't wait to get on the road. It's looking better for Jan to make the trip as well. We will know more this weekend.

HOOOOWEEEE!!!
Ready to get together with more friends, and make new ones(I'm really relatively harmless to all but me...)(for those of you that haven't met me, and only know me as the top candidate for TTQ, but more on that, later)...
COME ON, JAN...YOU CAN DO IT!!!
Actually, there are 4 rigs within throwing distance, or closer, and they are all Airstreams...kinda neat...I've tried to get pics of all in one frame, but the farthest one could be a cookie sheet, from the detail...
We're waitin, but I'm learnin' patience...so where are ya'll?

Why not just QUIT...I did, and while we aren't 'rich', we enjoy wealth beyond what's considered prosperity...our incentive factors may have differed from most, but the outlying fact is...why didn't we do this, earlier...?...I can burn burgers, I can do CPR in the field, I can do a lot of things that will bring me a paycheck at the end of the week, even if I only worked a half-day for the inexperienced "assistant manager" that's young enough to be my grandchild...
point being, don't wait til yer too old to enjoy what yer doin' now...
Sheesh!!!WHERE did THAT soapbox come from...?...
Just don't want to see people miss out on the 'portant things in life ...I think 4CU has found it.
So, now Where are ya'll???
JMNI-when were you gonna head this way?...
