Movies at the rally

When Airstreamer01 called me tonight to let me know he was coming, he mentioned that he has an LCD projector and screen so looks like we will have a real screen to view Animal House on. In addition he is bringing some Airstream DVD's that the VAC sells.

Wow Airstreams & Togas. Did you think there would ever be such a convergence!......

Bring on the popcorn......

Thumbs up Thanks to Jack!

As those of you who attended last year's Moraine View Rally know, my wife and I had to attend a local function on that weekend, but we had planned to make it for at least Sunday afternoon. Circumstances were such that we weren't able to make it. We did, however, have the pleasure of meeting Tracy and Ron and Eric and Brandi at Indiana Dunes later in the summer.

From all accounts of last year's Moraine View get-together, it was a roaring success, and I wanted to take a minute to thank Jack publicly for his time in pulling this together again for us this year.

We're all looking forward to the weekend of June 11th with great anticipation. For those of you who are still on the fence about whether or not to go, I heartily recommend you get your reservations in. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Thanks, Jack!

Glad to do it. Quite honestly other than making the original arrangement its not hard to do. Those of you in other parts of the country can easily repeat what we are doing here in the midwest. You don't have to be a moderator on have any official capacity with the forum to get one of these things started.

Obviously its those of you who attend that make this a success so my part is very small. My only regret is the fact that because of geography we can't see you all there.

Regards,

Jack

I doubt I'll have a trailer/towing setup by then but plan to drive down with muh truck, muh dawg & even maybe muh guy. I'll probably book a hotel in Bloomington unless anybody advises otherwise about closer accommodations.
There is a very nice Super 8 Motel just off of Interstate 74 at the LeRoy exit. I have stayed there a number of times since it opened when the Winter weather closed in during one of my numerous trips between the Quad Cities and Anna, Illinois - - it is about four miles from Moraine View State Park.

June 2004 Midwest Rally is Set!

Greetings Jack!

The travel kit in my Minuet also contains a group of VHS tapes of some original WBCCI movies that haven't been transferred to DVDs by the VAC yet. These are related to those on the DVDs already - - shared my list with Fred Coldwell (VAC Historian) and at least three of mine are not currently in the VAC archives - - I purchased these at a WBCCI International Rally at either the Airstream or WBCCI boot several years ago (1998 or 1999). I also have either two or three Airstream documentaries that have been sold at International Rallys as well. As always, I will be carrying the Long, Long, Trailer on VHS - - not exactly full of Airstreams - - only about 90-seconds of screen-time for an Airstream at the Los Angeles RV Show portion of the movie.

I also have two, old-fashioned, hand-crank ice cream freezers that I can bring to make ice cream like last year. With the larger number, I am thinking that two freezers may be needed rather than the one that we used last year. Could have both French Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream with the two-freezer set-up - - would just need some volunteers to help turn the cranks! Could also make Strawberry Sorbet or something similar with fresh fruits of the season - - that was one of our treats during the Wagon Wheels Rally in the Black Hills - - summer of 2002.

Thanks for the offer Kevin. I just started thinking about a pot luck and I'm just a little concerned about the numbers. If you remember last year, due to a little miscommunication our 6 PM meal time meant time to start cooking for some folks while others were ready to eat.

As it turned out it worked since even though we moved a bunch of picnic tables to one spot, we wouldn't have had room for everyone to sit at one time, plus have a food table too. We stand a good chance to have 50+ folks if you consider kids also. I'm not quite sure whether we can pull this off unless there are some other eating facilities. I'll be looking at this closer.

Talking

Guess what the mail man brought me today.........

We will be at P39!!!! Hey, you sunk my battle ship.

Wif is talking pop-up insted of the tent, so maybe I will get the silver paint out and do a quick once over on the thing.

I have gone over what I would need to do for a "quick" once over to make my Ambassador road worthy. To say it could not be done, would be a lie, but man I just don't have the cash to make the required "Patches" to make the trip.

So, I will just have to take about 30 or 40 rolls of film with. That and enough disks for the digital camera too.

Thank you Jack for coordinating this event.

See ya all there.

You're welcome! You could always hit Sam's Club and pick up some of those industrial sized rolls of aluminum foil! Great for pop up's.

Yeah, Till! That's the ticket! Just get some of the aluminum foil stuff they use on heating ducts! It comes in long rolls, and already has adhesive on it sorta like tape! It'll go on fast, and no one will even know that it's not an Airstream!
