this would be on the concrete pad, hanging over a cliff, over looking the valley, where we show the drive in movie and fire off the parachute flares?

Thats the spot. The flares may cause a problem with the low flying fighter jets though.

Anybody out there? We're set to leave within the hour (I hope). AAA'd and Mapquested our journey from the Phoenix area and it shows us going through the San Bernadino on I-10. Is that as bad (traffic) as it looks on the map? We are inclined to take I-40 even though it's 30 min. longer. Please advice if you know! Otherwise, see you all tomorrow night!

Herky,
The road surface is better on the 40. I'd do that and in Barstow get on the 58 to continue west.
Tailwinds and safe travel to you.

rally update
All is going great at the California Streamers Fall Rally, everyone who started off to come is now here.
For those who are curious, Friday nights Final Four were mr str8, bam, and the 2 times. As per mr str8, the theme was "no bo".

The Rally goes on...........
Today the majority of the California Streamers attending the fall rally at Rivernook in Kernville have said their farwells......however.....four of our usual suspects are still carrying on at the river.
The Str8's, Bamcamper and Kevbo have blown (yes I know it is thrown) caution to the wind have given the term "the final four" a new meaning.
For all of those who attended, thanks for the great conversation, superb food, plentiful drink and an never-ending laughter. We are looking forward to all of the pictures that captured those moments.

Rivernook is a perfect campground for Rallies. A great setting, and excellent hookups, near the River and cose to town. It was a blast, and I am sure to return soon for another camping trip.
Below some more pictures, including brunch at codybears trailer. Steve even brought freshly caught trout to the table...yum! And check out that pristine Streamline!

Great photos Uwe. There was no way I could be there, this gives me a flavor of what the area was like.
Now for a flavor of the activities....any video floating around?? I know, what happens at the rally, etc.
It sounds like you all had a good time.

Thank you ALL for a great time! It was a long drive and we'll have to plan to stay longer for going so many miles next time. Everyone was very welcoming to us and we feel that we made some new friends. It was suggested that since a lot of us only knew each other by our Forum names, that we post a list so we can connect who was who. We'll start:

Steve, your 57 is very interesting, especiialy the panorama window on the streetside. Once finished, you will have a jewel of a trailer!

Almost blown away in Kern...........but, oh so much fun.
Hi to all my new friends and 1 I met once before this rally. Thank you all for making me feel so welcome for my first Airstream rally. I had a great time and you all are wonderful. I look forward to attending the next rally some time in the future.
The food was outstanding at the potluck dinner and the brunch was same. Its been a long time since I had fresh trout and thanks to Steve for that. Thanks to Uwe and friends (John) for helping me learn how to put out my awning and it was a blast trying to put it away in the middle of the night with the wind blowing 90. Glad I did not become another one to get blown out of Kansas. aka Kernville. Bye. See you all down the road.

We had a great time in Kernville.
Got to meet great new people and visit with old friends. Best thing with these Rallies is the friends you meet and get to visit with. Our next door nieghbors David and Katy are a hoot! We're going to visit them at Slab City before heading over to the FCU New Years Party.
I was one of the lucky ones in that I got a go home bag of Suni's Kolbi Beef short ribs and I managed to get a taste of Steve's fresh Trout.
Lots of fun, lots of food and a beautifull park. Our site was secluded and surrounded by a river and streams. This kept the usual response to Karioke (A mob with torches and pitchforks) from getting to us. Pictures of the Karioki will be posted I'm sure. What they won't show you is Timemachine in the background singing really adult lyrics to Elvis songs or Str8stream in his Cowboy hat doing the Y.M.C.A. dance. And by the way why did Rick and Tim keep singing Village People songs...Just not asking...Just don't tell me.
