Boondockin in June
The 2nd or 3rd weekend in June we'll be heading to El Mirage Dry Lake for the weekend.
El Mirage Dry Lake is used for speed trials, commercials, striaght track racing and movies. It also legal there to land planes and ultra lights on the lake bed and many people do.
Until Oct 1 2008 camping is free.
You can camp on the lake bed within 100 feet of the edge (shore) or just about anywhere else out in the bush.
Everyone is invited to join in and if you have a genny bring it to power your A/C.

Have a safe trip and don't get in the way of any stampedes of animals, but since you are the Head Wrangler, you'll be able to handle it i'm sure.

Thanks Paula & all.
I'll be in Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa.
And there probably isn't any WiFi out in the bush.
So I'm thinking of NOT taking my computer.
*gasp!*
But I will surely put you to sleep with a few photos upon my return.
Only a few, I promise.

It's West of Victorville and Northwest of the junction of the 395 and Hwy 18.
We'll be heading that way June 14th or 21st depending on which of those Fridays Mrs. Goin has off.

BamoftheVillage,
As you travel the savanna, may the village wisdom accompany you along your journey. Remember...the great leopard who has no spots is like the man who promises a beautiful woman like yourself wonderful things. He's probably a Lion!

Crash test dummies...
O.K. Family,
In the morning we are getting a new set of shoes. We'll be getting Maxxis with the band that ties the tread to the sidewall. We're doing this as our two year old Marathons are cracked all along the tread line. We'll have the tires balanced because...
In a fortnight we'll be doing a Disc brake upgrade and those hubs etc. are balanced. So we'll have balanced running gear.
Mrs. Goin will be locked in the trailer and taken for a ride. (two way) so she can give us a before and after about the difference between unbalanced and balanced running gear.
In the two years we've had the trailer we've noticed about 15 interior rivets that have popped out. We've replaced them.
So what we will be testing is:
1, Maxxis tires and wether they crack or throw treads.
2, Differences in having balanced running gear. Will rivets continue to pop or will sofa pillows continue to wind up in the most amazing places after a drive?
Place your bets now on what you think the final results will be.

I will bet you also get a set of 325/65/18 Nitto Terra Grappler tires mounted on American wheels for your TV.

Note to self. Never give this group a straight line.
Bam: No bet. She already won the war about six years ago.
TIme: We need to get to gether so they can be test driven. Maybe at Uwe's in a couple of weeks. We're doing the brakes on Sunday so as not to interfere with his clients.

I'm wagering "the whole farm" on Mrs. Goin. She'll win big because:
People are not allowed in a trailer coach while it is being towed. (§21712[d] VC)
Poor Mr. Goin is being set up. All of the new CHP cruisers in your area is not because a Crispy Creme opened down the street. They are waiting...waiting for VC section 21712 to be violated.
While Mr. Goin is making new AS license plates, Mrs. Goin will be singing Karaoke in South Africa w/ her accomplice.
