March rally in TX
Hi, I'm the mrs from KrazyKraut and we were planning on attending the march 7 & 8 rally at Pedermales Falls State Park, but they do not have sites available (yes, I called them on the phone). The only sites available are the type that you hike in 3 miles, and primitive camp......... as I told Krazy Kraut, I'm all for exercise and little hiking, but I'm not keen on carrying my 26 foot airstream on our backs for 3 miles!!

Reminder!
Howdy(how do you say it) you all!!
We're having a small Forums get together and you all are welcomed!!
I understand that there aren't any sites available, but there must be some local parks nearby.(maybe someone could mention some )
Anyways if you would like to stop by and meet us all, that would be awesome !
If you plan on coming by and would like to hang around to eat, please post a note here so we'll have enough food to feed the everyone!
John

Forums Rally options
You can keep checking for last minute cancellations. You can also come in for the day; our major get-together will be a pot-luck Saturday evening. You will have to find us, then park in the overflow area and walk in since they allow only two vehicles per site
There is an RV park about 15 miles from the state park, at the junction of US 281 and US 290. There is also a RV park in Johnson City, about 10 miles from the state park. Given the time of year, they are probably not going to be full like the state parks will be. These are the only ones that I can think of.

Another thing
John
Have you heard anything from Holly? You gave me a confirmation number for her a while back, but she has been missing from the forum for a while. I don't know whether she ever got her trailer back.
If she can't come, that is a site for someone.

Glad you posted this- I had missed it
I had totally missed this thread til today.
I'll drive out and visit on Saturday...it's the first weekend of Spring Break in this neck- of -the -woods. May be why Park is full?
Blanco is a lovely park, too....(really prone to flooding) but small.
Looking forward to thanking you all in person for your tips and advice.
I can bring a side-dish and something to grill if you can provide the grill....
I'm so new to RV camping, I can't think of any close by sites to Pedernales...are there any in Dripping Springs, John?
Are there sites in Paleface Park?

Pace Bend County Park (Paleface Park) - 2011 North Pace Bend Rd., Spicewood TX 78669, (512) 264-1482
Location: From the Texas Highway 71/RM 620 junction in Bee Cave, follow Texas 71 west for 15 miles to the intersection with RM 2322. Turn right (north) onto RM 2322 and follow it 4 miles to the Park entrance.
OR
Krause Springs -- West of Pedernales River on Texas 71. North on Spur 191, follow signs. (830) 693-4181.
I've camped in tents at both places

Not too close
Martha
It would be great to have you join us.
Nothing in Dripping Springs. Several parks in Wimberley, though.
The two parks you mention are out on TX 71 and quite a distance from Pedernales which you can only access from Burnet or US 290. I would encourage folks to check out the several parks that I mentioned above first. They are commercial parks and not recreational parks, so they may not be as full.
I'll have a small grill that I can fire up. I'm going to do a casserole in the oven.

Getting close
Not the best weather forecast, but a lot better than the last week. This isn't normal February-March weather here by any means. April and September are usually our rainy months.
Winter came late here and I missed it. There were two days of ice here with everything closed; I was at the Comnputer Rally in Zavalla and the worst it got was pretty constant drizzle and 34 degrees on the coldest night.
The weather will probably wipe out my intended hiking at Pedernales Falls, but it shouldn't keep us from having a good time.

By the way
Anyone who hasn't emailed me their name and confirmation number, please do so. I will be at the park by 10:00 Friday morning and will get us sites as close together as possible. All you need do is stop at HQ, identify yourself as part of the Airstream group, and pay the additional day(s) not covered by the deposit.
I'll go to HQ when they open Saturday morning to try to get the Saturday arrivals as close as possible.

C'mon Martha
Those papers surely can wait while you drive in Saturday evening and pot-luck with us. It isn't that far!
My wife is going to do the same. She still works and needs some of the weekend to do other things.

I sure hope the weather improves over the next few days!!!
It was so cold and damp yesterday, that I was all crippled up and went to bed around 7:30 because it hurt just to sit in my lay-z-boy.
Let's all pray for warm and dry weather !! Enough is enough!!

Getting geared up
I'm off to bring the trailer home from storage before going to the dentist and stopping at the supermarket for pot-luck makings.
For all our cousins in the frozen north, the sky is bright blue and the temperature is headed to the low 60s today with just a bit of wind. Tomorrow, it should be clear and 74; time to break out the shorts.
Maybe I'll get to do some hiking this weekend after all. The only problem will be that all the small streams are still going full tilt from the recent rains.

Don't even start!
Yeah, the last time Pahaska started with that "eat your hearts out up north" jive our Canadian friends sent us a little present in the form of an Arctic blast that lasted for over a month!! Mix that with a decent amount of Pacific moisture, not sure who to blame that on, and we all got popsicle lookin' Airstreams!
