update
I just called Moraine to change our reservations to a day earlier; we'll be coming in on Thursday night, the 16th, rather than Friday afternoon.
If I'm busy at the shop that afternoon, I may not leave as early as I want to, but if things are slow, we'll leave ASAP.. because it is a good drive.
It's been a long winter and we haven't been able to get out camping much, so far, so we're stealing an extra afternoon and night :-)

Refined people? Where?
I'll be feeling re fined after a few glasses of chocolate milk...... It will be about then that I become the life of the party, right down to the lampshade on my head. I'll show you refined!
With all of these new smilie things, you'd think they would have a drunken one with a lampshade on it's head?

Norbert, I'm really very glad you signed up.
I still feel bad for our trailer conking our last year.
We could have gone ahead an hauled her down there with no air conditioning, but she was disassembled, with pieces laying in the driveway and garage.
It was horrible, and I was SO STRESSED. Why does everything happen at the last (and worst) possible second, and who the heck is Murphy? (of Murphy's law)
But at least we got to come down for the day.
So what kind of sald did you make that I missed?

I'm not sure if I will be able to get my shop up and running in time to make Midwest Rally t-shirts again this year. I may, I may not. Never can tell with the move going as it is. We close Monday - provided our squatter actually leaves (purchased a home out of foreclosure - you figure out the rest).
I probably could get together a Midwest Rally cookbook if I can talk everyone out of their treasured culinary secrets.....
(inserting memory here - my grandmother was an amazing cook and a downright mean person. We called her "Mean Gramma" behind her back. I could tell you story after story about how mean she was. Despite that, she was who she was and she was very good to us in her own mean - but very generous sort of way. I'm straying from my point. I asked her, once, for her recipe for "Sun Pickles:" a recipe that she had modified and perfected over the years. Let me tell you, she made amazing pickles. Of course when I made them, they weren't quite right.......I thought 6 tablespoons of salt seemed a bit much for a quart jar mostly filled with pickles, but what do I know? My point is this, as giving as she was, she would never give us her exact recipes.)
I think I'll be bringing Sun Pickles to the rally. Note to self - bring extra drinking water......... : (<Gramma)

I say (like I know what the heck I'm talking about, being able to burn water), share the mixtures and the process unless you're gonna sell the stuff or try to make a business out of it. What kills me is that so many good things to eat die with the people that made them because they never passed it on.
I'll bring my burnt water recipe and gladly share it with anyone.

You are exactly right.. my husband's grandmother did that with several ethnic things she used to make; she wouldn't even let you watch her make them. In particular was her Swedish egg coffee, which sounds GROSS but is NOT. And there are too many recipes on how to make it, but none of them are like hers was.
So now she is passed on and so are her recipes.
That really is sad, isn't it?

OLE, SVEN, AND LARS
Ole, Lars, and Sven had been going to the Sons of Norway hall meetings as long as there had been a hall. And every month, wouldn't ya know it, they never won a prize at the monthly drawing.
That is, until last meeting. Sven was the first one of the three to have his name drawn. He won two pounds of spaghetti sauce, four boxes of noodles and three pounds of Swedish meatballs.
Ole had his name drawn next. He got himself round trip tickets to Duluth, MN., 2 nights' stay at the Dew Drop Inn, and a pair of tickets to see the Inger triplets Polka Ensemble. Ole thought that he had died and gone to heaven.
Lars was the last one to have his name drawn. He won a toilet brush.
At the next monthly meeting, they sat down together to check out how they had fared for the past month. Sven said, "Uff da, I had dat pasghetti for tree days. It was so good and Helga didn't have to buy food for dem dere tree days."
Ole said, "Lena was so happy vhen I brought home dem tickets. The trip up to Duloot was nice and we got to ride da Greyhound, and you know, they got a built-in outhouse on dat dere bus. And the Inger triplets, if I didn't know better, I would swear dey vere sisters."
Then Ole turned to Lars, and asked him how his prize worked out. Lars looked at them both and said, "Dat dere toilet brush is nice, but I tink I'll go back to using paper.
