More thank likely yes. However you can try to remove just the wood shelf behind the back side of the couch. It sits below the shelf in our 88'.

Pull up the couch seat cushion and use a broom handle to prop it up.

It is located on the floor in the center near the exterior wall.

There should be a 120 VAC outlet wired to the shore power circuit breaker box powering it.

You are misunderstanding what the unit is called. An inverter converts DC to AC current. A converter converts AC to DC.

These Airstreams came with a converter so that the batteries and 12V DC system can be powered by an external power source such as a generator or 110V AC electrical power.

Inverters are commonly connected to a 12V DC connection to provide an AC source. Common application: You can connect the inverter to the cigarette lighter ports of your vehicle to provide a 110V connection.
