Great update! Question. I get seasick really easily. Were any passengers getting seasick on the boat tour? Looks like something we would like to do, but I won’t enjoy it much if I’m hanging over the rail..

Yes, actually the male part of the couple who sat with us was having issues. He had taken Dramamine which essentially put him to sleep at our table. Once he got some rest and we were back in protected waters, he was fine. I didn’t notice anyone else having problems.

We took a boat tour from Seward a few years ago. It was VERY rough, with one channel having quite large seas. At one point the waves broke over the bow of the boat and a lot of water came in through the seals on the front windows.
Lots of poeple lost it about then.
I was just fine until I was smelling the vomit. I didn’t feel as good after that, but didn’t really have an issue. Going outside for fresh air seemed to solve it.
It was a fun trip- but calm seas would have made it a LOT more enjoyable, especially for those that didn’t do as well with the motion.
Thanks for the detailed postings on your trip- great fun reading.

That would have done me in too. They did come around offering barf bags to anyone who wanted one.
Later in the afternoon on the way back, we all got warm cookies.

Thanks for another picture-packed installment.
We weren't anywhere near your area, but during our May trip to Yellowstone we too saw a lot of "Work Men Ahead, Be Prepared to Stop" signs. They weren't kidding about the stopping, but often the stop light was an automated one with no personnel in attendance. Same was true at the worksites. Sometimes the work was going on when we passed, but often the workmen were nowhere to be seen.

Funny thing we saw at a construction area, the workers were making repairs to a bridge built in an area of permafrost. They were very deep under the ground. I couldn’t see them, but my wife did as we passed by.

I just left Valdez 2 weeks ago. Suggest the Valdez Glacier Military Campground. There are 10 electric sites and tons of dry sites -- Reasonable and hot showers. Sites spaced apart. Close to the airport -- Civilians welcome. Also, rent a kayak at Valdez Glacier lake -- float amongst the icebergs (real cool).
Also, take a glacier cruise on the LuLu Belle. The boat Captain built this boat and takes his time getting close to wildlife and close to the glacier..... we were floating in the icebergs -- we saw glacier calving while there for an hour.
