Smile I'm baaaaaaack...sort of....

Truthfully, did anyone here even notice I was gone, or miss me at all?!!

I've been busy. After searching for a place to live in San Diego where we could keep the AI on premise with us instead of at a storage facility, we found and bought a cool tiny empty lot in North Park (San Diego).

Husband, awesome architect that he is, designed a cool and fun 14' wide house to fit on the lot. However, as most construction projects go, this one was a bit over-budget, and so, *gasp*, we had to sell the AI to pay for the new house. LOL!!!

So, yes, just over a year ago, we sold Fiona. And we moved into the fabulous new house in December.

And now....we're thinking about buying a 25' International Serenity. haha!! As soon as we sell our rental condo, we'll have $ to take the leap again.

I miss the B-Van forum. We owned our AI for 3 years, and wouldn't have survived without all you smart and fabulous peeps here!! Not sure if I've properly thanked all of you for all the help you gave us! THANK YOU!!

So, bye for now...I'll be over on the International Serenity threads...

Awww.... thanks!!! It's nice to be missed. And yes, I need to get back to my blog. I'd intended to keep it up after our last long trip, but, life got in the way. Thanks for mentioning it though. Maybe that'll get me back to it.

Love SD. Lived there in the early 70's. Wife and I drive down there from the Central Coast every couple years in our AI and play tourist for a week and visit old friends. Great city.

Hey Stranger, Welcome Back Kind of

So what is your thought process behind the new 25' Inspiration?

I really think we need an Interstate (allready made 3 trips back east this year), a trailer for more comfortable camping and a class A pulling a car for longer leisurely trips

Do you have a good tow vehicle, or will you be buying that too?

Hi Ron! I think you're right...we all need at least 3 different RV thingies!!

Well, our thinking is this...the Interstate is the perfect road tripping vehicle. But now, when we start up again, we want to stay longer in each place...anywhere from a week, to a month or more in each place.

It seems that a trailer will be better/more convenient and comfortable for this type of travel/living. We'll have more space for us and the two doggies. And, we'll be able to unhitch, and cruise around with the tow vehicle.

We do not have a tow vehicle. We have only 1 car...a very small hatchback, which we'd have to sell.

Still a few hurdles/isuses to get past... 1) The tow vehicle will become our only auto, and lordy knows I don't want to have to drive around in a huge freakin' truck when not airstreaming. 2) We don't have anywhere to keep a trailer and a big truck, and I swore I wouldn't get another RV if we had to keep it in a storage facility.

So....still at least a couple things to work out!!

I'll post if/when this all happens.

Just note: the 25' Airstream is nearly as heavy on the tongue as the 27/28 trailers. You may want to look at the 23 family of floor plans.

If I were single, I'd look at the 23's or even smaller. But, with the 2 of us, and 90lbs of dogs...the 23 just doesn't work very well for us. We won't do a corner bed, and aren't crazy about the sideways queen bed. The 25 seems perfect for us.

Awesome! Just be sure to check the *load* capacity of your planned new tow vehicle to be sure it can handle the tongue weight of a 25.

I comfortably tow my 25' with a 2012 Dodge Durango. Durango is also a great daily driver.

Had a 25 Classic (with disc brakes no less) and that tongue weight was as heavy as my 33FB, all depends on the layout!

Keep an eye on the tongue weight, perhaps invest in a ProPride and you should be fine...

The 25' is the most stable of Airstream trailers with a very high tongue weight. I think the ProPride is overkill for this size trailer. I sometimes towed my 25 with no sway control at all and never missed it.

I had a ProPride on my 28 Classic. There, it was marginally useful. The PP made it hard to back into my storage slot which was cramped by an adjacent building. The PP makes it very slow to straighten out a turn when backing. It was always easy to get in the slot with a conventional hitch, but it was challenging with the PP.
