Hoping to purchase 2012 class B Avenue
Hello all, and thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience! My husband and I hope to become the owners of a 2012 class B Avenue---the model is a Suite, I believe. I am excited, but nervous too! As you know, these things are pricey, and we unfortunately have no experience owning or even using a class B rv. We live in a rural area of Maine, so there is little opportunity to view or try class B rigs.
We've found this one at Fretz RV in Pennsylvania, have made a deal and deposit, and hope to finalize and drive it away on Monday.
Can anyone offer any tips or things to watch out for on this rv? One thing that concerns me is that it has been advertised as a 2012, but the paperwork seems to indicate it was manufactured in 2010. I can understand the chassis being 2010 and the rig being sold as a 2011, but how can it be advertised as a 2012?
Thanks in advance for any advice or cautions before we finalize the deal.
I hope to be a part of your community and post here in the future as we wander!
Anne

If you use your edit function in photos, and cut the size down a bit, should post correctly.

I did a quick VIN decode.
It does show up as a Chevy 2010. I know my AI is a 2006 model, but based on a 2005 Sprinter.
My understanding is they buy them from the vehicle manufacturer, then it takes time to do the build. Perhaps they tend to get them near end of year for best prices also?
I don't know anything about that model, so can't help there.

Better pic
Thanks Lily&Me, and Lotus,
Thanks, Lotus for looking up the number, probably while standing on your head!
I had to crop the pic, but the important thing seems like that date in the upper right hand corner of the "Summary build document"---08/06/2010. I could see if it was sold as a 2011 model, but 2012? That would not seem to be a very efficient production process.
We're supposed to write a check tomorrow, and I don't know if I should make an issue out of this.

You could contact Airstream and see what they have to say. It could be it was titled as a later year since it wasn't sold.

I think JD sanders airstream in Alachua Florida has two avenues on the lot. That's gotta Be a rarity. I looked at one, low mileage, like new condition.

I did contact them, by internet inquiry, sometime on Sunday. As I'm not the original owner and I'm sure they have better things to do, I didn't expect a prompt reply, if any at all. First thing Monday morning, there was my answer! It is a 2012. Boy, was I impressed. We completed the deal and drove away yesterday. As this is our first RV, we still have things to learn, but I'm happy to report that it runs and rides real smooth. Although things are very compact, we have everything we need. The bed is comfortable memory foam, and so far everything seems to be top quality.
Thanks to all of you for helping!

Yes, and here's how I found out it was a 2012: check this PDF file for the year digit code.

Buy it and enjoy! The Avenue is based on a solid Chevy van, with a trouble free gasoline engine. It should give you many year s of trouble free service. If you haven't done it yet you can download an owners manual from Airstream at this link:

Sorry to resuscitate an old thread. This was the closest and most recent one I found.
Saw these 2 ads for 2011/2012 Avenues
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Airstr....m43663.l10137
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Airstr...d=323550434719
I tell you guys, if this model was available new at the time I was looking, I would not mind having this one. Being a big fan of the 6.0 L engine from my hot rod days, doesn't hurt. But these 2 ads showed me for first time the interior of the Avenue and I like how they are able to pack it in the space. I really like the split 60/40 side doors vs. my slider. I guess getting older makes me prefer that to the heavy slider . I am also a big fan of short rear overhang on the Avenue. My EXT long overhang is not my 1st preference. I have no idea of its long term reliability, only that the design aspects of it are nicely done IMHO.
