Kevin, Thanks for the reply. I hope to get back to the storage area after I return from my trip to SW Michigan job that starts Monday March 9th. I will let you know what I find out on these coaches as to year and size. Ed

Can anyone tell me the proper paint color code for the off white exterior paint and the copper colored trim? Also, where can I get the replacement orange plastic insert at the belt line and above the bottom copper paint on my 78 Argosy 27'? Thanks,

First, the easiest answer is to where to locate the orange belt-line and rub-rail inserts -- any Airstream dealer or Authorized Airstream Repair Center should be able to order what you need if they don't already have it in stock.

Second, the only code that I have seen for the copper color trim is way off. My local auto paint store suggested that the problem was that the original paint had lead and when lead was removed from the formula that it was difficult to get the same richness in the color. While at the paint store, I checked out the factory paint chips for recent GMs and Fords -- the copper color used on the Chevrolet Canyon pickups in 2006-2008 is so very close to the original Argosy tone.

Third, the most recent paint codes mentioned for the off-white are a very good match to the original paint on my Minuet. The entire group of codes that Charlie Burke posted to the Vintage Airstream List several years ago is as follows:

Upper body color: DuPont Centari #44534-A Light Beige

Lower banana skin: Lilly Coatings #7641-A Metallic Brown
(this bottom color various with different models-this
was appropriate for the 1976 Argosy, 24 ft.)

The original colors were provided by Lilly Industrial Coatings. In 1988
Airstream published a list of Dupont Centari substitute numbers. Based on
that list the Argosy colors through 1977 were:

Upper--Light Beige 44534-A

Lower--Metallic Brown 44721-AM

Good luck with your project!

Kevin

I did not know that Argosy could have had an aluminum composite floor.
How were they built? ect..

The aluminum composite flooring was basically two sheets of aluminum with a layer of rigid insulation bonded between them. The floors were attached to the chassis with rows of rivets. My understanding is that the shell is attached to the composite flooring in much the same manner as in a coach with plywood floors.

Thus far, it seems that composite floors were utilized in quite a few of the 6.0 Metre Minuets and a very few of the 6.7 Metre Minuets.
