Question Husband about to buy! 1973 24 ft. Help wife get ready!

Hi All,
We are about to become owners of a new Argosy..
After years of window shopping I think it's happening in the morning..
I am excited BUT since we have never bought anything like this I am sort of freaking out..
Any links, WHAT to look for, issues, the good and the bad..
My hubby is driving 10 hours to pick up the Argosy and I want to make sure he knows what to look for the pics look awesome but you know how that goes
I am SUPER excited but also don't want to invest 3K in a HUGE money pit..We are planing maybe an addition 3K to get it fixed up...???
All your input is appreciated!!!
Thanks
K

Hello there!
Use the search function to find the purchasers check list and checking for rear end separation. Assume the axles WILL need to be replaced unless the current owner can confirm they have been replaced in recent years. The umbilical might need to rewired to match your tow vehicle. Hubs might need repacking before making a 10 hr drive home.
Thats a few things to start with.
Ours had all the above, and more and was not readily visible when I collected it. We have easily spent your budget on ours (having spent the same to buy it). Just be prepared for the worst and anything else will be a bonus!
I am hoping you have not been put off by this, I am not wanting to be negative, just realistic. I had no expectations going into ownership of ours (nor time scale for completion) and have loved every part of the process. I looked up a checklist and think this is it, and the one I used

By the way, WELCOME!

You will probably "invest" more than you plan. Investment is not the right word. You should not be thinking you will make money. You may be able to break even. If you can forget about the $ both of you will have a lot of fun together.
