Dining Table
The table that slides and then folds out next to the front gaucho in our Six Metre Minuet has a sunken area about the size of a large pot on one half of the top surface. I'm looking for a replacement table if anyone has one that has been salvaged from an Argosy, or any information anyone might have regarding where I might find one. Thank you for your help.

With some patience you may find one on craigslist. I've seen a couple of ads over the last year or so where someone in DFW or Austin was parting out an interior from a project trailer. I run an app on my phone that searches the craigslist locations I tell it to with an automated search for "airstream" every day, I think that's the way to find that sort of semi-obscure thing.

Thanks, Belegedhel.....I'll look through my photos and post one if/when I find one. I don't have the trailer here with me right now or I would simply take a photo. Hopefully you have one that'll work. Thanks again.

Photo of Table
Here's a photo of the table that needs to be replaced. The picture was taken before any work was done, and shows the trailer with the old curtains, gaucho covers, floor, etc. Lots of things have been changed, but much remains.....What the heck, I was looking for a hobby anyway.

I have a similar one out of a Streamline. I could sell and ship to you for about $75. Have you considered replacing/ repairing the top yourself. It's not rocket science. It looks like the adhesive holding the formica has failed. You could try peeling the formica back with a heat gun and regluing with contact cement. Probably an hour job.

Looks pretty similar to the one I have--I need to pull it out of the attic and check. There are also a couple on the classified ads that look vaguely similar.

Inside starting to shape up
Attachment 198201
The photo I attached showing the table that I'm looking to replace was taken before I started any remodeling work. Here's a photo of the inside, showing the new gaucho covers, curtains, and floor.

Any cabinet shop or a good carpenter could build you new ones, or rebuild them.

Thanks for the reply Lumatic...the surface of the table is actually depressed about a half inch or more, as if the material beneath the laminate is compressed.

These tables are 3/4 inch plywood. Finding a good sheet with no voids may be the hardest part. Cut the tables to shape and a laminating shop can laminate them for you. Transfer the fittings and you are done.

Furniture grade is usually void free, but it costs a lot more. Any chance you can just un screw the table top and flip it over? Is it finished on both sides?

Airstream used some weird lightweight sandwich not to strong constructiions in interior doors, and now I suspect the fold out table too. I suspect the primary reason for the table sandwich was to not put too much weight on the mounting hardware as well as it not being too heavy for the big hair woman you see in the Owners Manual.
Referring to the above post about using a laminating shop. There is no reason you couldn't do it yourself.

Doors are often hollow core. You can make the tables hollow core as well but I doubt AS did that. The tables that were in the 1979 Argosy I had were plywood. Flipping the table will leave the holes where the hardware was attached on the top side. Easier to make new ones.
