How does the front window trim go together?

We're trying to put the window trim and screen back on our front window, and nothing seems to look quite right.

#1 We put the side window trim on first, then the screen, but the screen doesn't fit snugly against the window. It gaps and catches at the top corners of the trim.

#2 We put the screen on first, then the side trim. The screen fits better against the window, but the side trim doesn't look right and holes aren't lining up.

#3 We gave up for the night! We're thinking that we need to do it as in #1 and judiciously "trim" some things.

We don't remember how we took it apart 4 years ago...

Any ideas?

Kay
