Fresh water idea

Just started a year of full time so still learning and did not want to mess with disinfecting the fresh tank so got a 2 dollar "y" for the city water spicket. I can draw a Brita filter pitcher of water direct from the city water line at the hose connection site and pop it in the fridge. No more purchased bottles of water. Hope this helps someone.

Well. If you're hooked to city water, you're not using the tank anyway. A check valve isolates the tank from the rest of the plumbing in the AS when city water pressure is applied.

As long as you are hooked to the city you can fill your Brita in the trailer. The fresh water tank is completely separate from the city system, separated by the pump.

Hmmm. Seems like disinfecting the fresh water tank (not hard to do or maintain) is much worth it, especially if you end up somewhere where you do not have a city connection or enough bottled water on board to meet all your needs.

We keep our water tank full and use it for cooking and occasional drinking all the time. When we fill it at home or other known water sources, we don't bother with adding anything to it, but when we take on water at an unknown source we always add a bit a bleach solution to act as a purifier and use an inline water filter. Never had any issues.

We filter the water at the spigot before it goes into the trailer.

We filter at the spigot also using an in-line filter like Sheri does. This works well for us.

I drink beer instead of water, so far works well. The coffee is a little off however

I kinda like Franks idea on the beer....in lieu of water.....Sure is hard on the Kidneys though !!!!

And here I thought I was such a Macgyver plumber. You folks also answered my confusion about city system being separated from the on board tank. Oh hell, I'm going for the beer idea, maybe a microbrew in celebrations of friends and their ideas.
