I have a little video same scene as that photo. La Gringa is going to find some music for it.

Hey, the last big trip I took in my Fleetwood Jamboree was from Cape Cod to Niagara. Went all round the falls. Toured the fort. My sons were kids. 20 years and two divorces ago.

Thumbs up Winterizing the boat...

Finished yesterday.

Before putting the boat away for Winter I decided to research a change I wanted to make.

Outboards don't have clutches, it's a "bang" in gear set-up, very hard on the internals. Especially when towing skiers etc.

I re-wired the shifter so I'm now able to start in neutral, forward and reverse.
I know it don't sound like much...but it just may save some $$$$ down the line.

I'm finishing up a week parked beside the waters of Lake Marble Falls, where for some reason even in a 2++ year drought the river/lake is full, just doesn't allow any water to flow on downstream. Anyway, evening temps in the hi 40' to low 50's, daytimes in the hi 70's, the simple pleasue of sitting outside late in the evening, sipping some nice champers or on an ice cold long neck Shiner beer & seeing the lights of the city gleaming on the waters, the moon giving it all that special glow & that old owl hooting away downstream. A few deer move thru late at night, but not often.

For those who love Park Avenue or 5th Avenue, and 'The City' - I really do understand. I had the life experience of living in central London for a few years, and treasured each & every moment of it, and still go back on visits as often as I can. But for this Texas boy, the rejuvination of my soul right here on a Texas stream, life just doesn't get much better.

And THAT folks is what I did with my Airstream today. Was that was the thread's question? My thoughts kinda drifted down stream a bit.

There was a time when I would go a long ways out of my path for a Shiner Bock.

And I'm a fifth generation Texan with ya on most of it. But the only view I enjoy of a city is in a rear view mirror.

We'd LOVE to take our two to the USA, but Uncle Sam says NOPE. Ain't got no airbags. Uncle Sam insists on airbags. No matter what the rest of the world is doing.

Yesterday I applied for membership at the local Elks Lodge... They have a great location along the Sacramento River Trail. Plus they have 20 RV sites, with full hookups in the parking lot. A couple of our close friends live within walking distance of the Lodge, so it will be nice to park Rita at the Elk's when we go to dinner parties.

On the other side of this deal... I have been wanting to join an organization that is helping local charities; Like our local Veteran's Cemetery, the homeless, and the Boy & Girl Scouts.

Support our troops by going to a local event today!!!!!

You may want to keep the neutral safety switch and wire in an overide button.

carl,

I have kept the neutral safety switch...it's required.

Our boat came from the Factory with turn-signal style engine trim switches, one on each side of the steering wheel. Up and down on both, much safer keeping both hands on the wheel.
That rendered the trim button on the shifter redundant. I simply wired that into the starter solenoid.
I can now start with the key in neutral, or what used to be the shifter trim button in neutral, forward or reverse.
Makes it a lot less stressful on the lower-unit, especially when towing water toys.

My Rear End

Continuing to strip, clean and repaint the rear storage and bumper. Thought it was a simple little task, but sigh... gave up stripping the bumper and lid in place and took them off. They now look great and are ready to go back on. Took a needle gun to the rust in the storage compartment and almost have it all repainted and ready for the bumper.
baby steps....

I installed some metal screens in the camper to keep the cat from getting under the couch - he likes to go there specifically when we need him to come out for travel...

I also wired a switch that was unused to turn on the marker lights.

Unused or just not able to find what it really powered?

Unused. It had power to it, but there was nothing connected to the other terminal.

Today I got up early, drove a few hours and got the hot water working properly in a 2000 Excella. I then went by the North Texas Airstream Community to have a look around since I was close. After that, I drove home, did some shopping and took the family out for a nice Veteran's Day supper. Good day it was.

thanks! I've got another beachcombing and DIY post just about ready. Just need to upload a few of those little videos. I'll try to keep it sunny.

I spent a lot of time up that way in a previous life. On Navy projects and some APL and oceanographic stuff. I found out I start getting squirrelly after a week of rain. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Curled up in the AS with a book, finished it, then took a long nap.

Rainy and cold here; I had a good excuse!
