Wanting to buy
I'm looking to buy the airstream down the street from me. Is there any way to get info on this trailer from the red numbers on it? Thanks, Rob

Those are membership numbers in the WBCCI and can sometimes be traced back to a previous owner, not the trailer itself. A picture would help determine what it is, but the VIN is the easiest way to identify the trailer. The VIN is normally located on a plate next to the door.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.
As far as the red numbers go. That is the club member number, and can not really tell you about the trailer.

so far you have posted NO background info that would warrant OTHERs helping u...
is there a 4sale sign on it?
is the OWNER nearby?
who's PROPERTY is it on?
how many fences or gates did you navigate to snag the vin?
u shouldn't just be tres passin' on private land and poking around other peoples streams...
it's not COOL 2 do that.
many stream owners are REGULARLY bothered by wandering eyes attached to heads...
that THINK it's ok to dig around into their property/streams that are NOT for sale.
_______
so start with the PROPERTY owner and get permission to dig around.
just cuz u c it and like it don't mean it's AVAILABLE.
cheers
2air'

I spoke with the owner, he said it was his parents, who are deceased, he wants to sell but has no idea on a price, just trying to do research. Thanks, Rob

If you post the VIN, someone can decipher it for you and tell you the year, length etc.
The www.Vintageairstream.com site has a great deal of information on trailers built before 1980 including pictures. Unfortunately, the site appears to be down currently.
That site also has a section on price vs condition.

Here is some help....
Sounds like it is probably a 26' Overlander built in 1968 in Jackson Center. 678 is the number off the line that year.
Hope that can get you started!
Now don't go breakin' no rulz : ; !
Oh, and welcome to the forums! Glad your here.

Now that you know what it is the really tough part is finding out what a fair price would be. If VintageAirstream.com is up they have a general guideline for determining condition and value. Going to ebay you can also do research on past recent sales, not what is for sale now but what actually sold and for how much. That will kind of give you a baseline on what its worth in general. Then there is condition, what needs to be repaired or replaced and what you expect to do with it. We use ours extensively so everything has to work and it has to travel long distances safely. For some people it is just a hobby fixing it up and using it occasionally. Good luck hope you have a lot of fun Airstreaming.
