Kris with Sunday Morning.
"The beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had another for dessert."
" . . . Sunday morning fryin' chicken . . . "
Great back up vocals.

Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.
What a great venue with all these performers singing from their seats with minimal orchestration.

Here's one for when the driving is done, and the wine is poured. Sade and her awesome band with "Cherry Pie".

Time to gear up for Spring! Here is a good one IMO for this more somber OTRA Music II thread. The following quote does not spell it out all that well, but the goal was to have more contemplative music here, with the kick-ass "On the road again" stuff on the first "I" thread. If you listen to Susan Werner's "May I Suggest" in Post #1, that will set the tone IMO!

May I Suggest?
Ah, what a context . . .

A companion post to Willin' by Little Feat on the first OTRA I thread, both inspired by the Showtime series Roadies.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...-i-143331.html
This OTRA II thread is intended to have a more reflective soul-searching theme -- for what that may be worth!
This tune by Lynyrd Skynyrd -- Simple Man -- fit right into Roadies so well.
Here we go -- On The Road Again!

A great new "venue" is the YouTube channel from Prairie Home Companion. Chris Thile has done an amazing job bringing new talent to this old radio show, live every Saturday night from 6-8 PM ET. We listen every week over Saturday dinner. When they broadcast from St. Paul, the show is simulcast on YouTube live.
Lucius is breathtaking IMO.

Here is another great one from Prairie Home Companion. Somber lyrics and theme, but what energy in the performance by The Avett Brothers!
True Sadness . . .

Thanks again for Gretchen Peters' cover of Tricia's song, "On A Bus To St. Cloud," on the other thread.
A bit somber, in keeping with the theme on this thread, but really fine music!
Happy Fourth of July.

Thanks Brian for the Townes Van Zandt song on the other thread. What a talent -- left us at too young of an age!
I see he wrote Pancho and Lefty, which I think of as a road song, albeit a more sobering one.
Peter
"Living on the road my friend,
Was gonna keep you free and clean
And now you wear your skin like iron,
And your breath as hard as kerosene."
Nice cover and interview with Emmy Lou Harris and Willie, with TVZ sneaking in at 2:42!

Yes Peter Towns was tortured soul for sure, if you haven't seen the documentary about his life "Be Here to Love Me" it is well worth the watch. In my opinion his best recording of Pancho & Lefty was live at The Old Quarter in Houston.

Thanks Brian.
Here is a nice live cover of Kate Wolf's amazing tune, Across The Great Divide, live with Nancy Griffiths and Emmylou Harris, plus Nina Gerber and Pete Kennedy on guitar. Kate is another talent who left us too young!
"Life is short, shorter for some than others . . . " quoting Gus [Robert Duvall] from Lonesome Dove. [See Post #30 on the OTRA I thread for more LD stuff.]
Too somber? Nah!
Cheers,
Peter

Wow thanks Peter, Nancy Griffith is one of my favorites and I have the Other Voices Other Rooms CD. My Townes collection is extensive, I probably have it all.
I am leaving for NM within the hour here, will be going over Raton Pass and up into Trinidad. I'll be reminded of another TVZ favorite;

Nice one, have a great trip. What takes you to Trinidad if I may ask? Always looking for places to stop.
