Official Airstreamer CB Channel?

I know quite a few of us still have functional CBs in our ASs. Is there an official channel or lingo to use to reach out to say "Hi" when we're out and about?

WBCCI uses Channel 14 for caravans and rally arrival traffic control, so that's about as "official" an Airstream channel as any.

have not been on a CB for years but i would think it more likely to ping someone on Ch 19.. aka the trucker channel.. as few and far between as AS are on the road you might never find one to come back to you on either channel.

Ditto. Channel 14 is generally only used for active WBCCI caravans and rallies, not so much for causal Airstream encounters.

Breaker 1 - 4 just doesn't have the same ring to it as breaker 1 - 9 for some reason...
We got a convoy of silver twinkies on the road to Chi-town...

Our unit still uses CB's when we are traveling together, and use channel 14. If there's not a group of us, I never turn it on unless I need traffic info for some reason.

We run on 14 when on any WBCCI event, and on 19 when alone. I'm always glad to be hailed on 19 and drop down to 14 together once we've made contact.

just think CB's were the cell phone of the 70's. I remember the noise on 19 was so bad you had to just about turn the squelch all the way up.. You would only hear someone just up the road or on the other side for less than a min.

wonder how it is now.. ??

I had a midland that had been "tuned" by a shop in VA and that thing would walk the dog. man it miss them day on the road..

my CB handle was Red Man "long legged lady licking RedMan from east coast NC. breaker, breaker.. come back.."

I got a CB when we joined WB, and we've used it a couple times during rallys, or carallys. They don't work very well. I have a pair of GMRS radios that my wife and I have used when we had to drive two cars. The GMRS works far, far better than CB. No noise, no chatter. They are very inexpensive, fit in your pocket and last a long time on a charge.

We have tried a few times to connect with other Airstreams with the CB and it has never worked.

most likely the other airstreamer did not have a CB or it was not on at the time. I like the GMRS radio's as well. We use them in my business at times. When traveling we use cell phones.. not as fast as radio for sure. can see a good use when parking or backing trailer with someone on the ground talking to you all the while letting you know how it going back there..

you're missing a lot of fun.....

if you don't have a CB. I have never been on an "official " caravan but have travelled many times with family and friends. We all have CB's, for relaying info on fuel/rest stops, and just plain ole shooting the breeze as we go down the road. They are a great asset to group traveling in many ways. We use #14 as a group, and monitor #19 if we are traveling alone.

No better way to stay informed about the roads around you than by CB. The truckers out there know more than anyone, and can be a big help. If the talk on #19 irritates you, just turn it off.

If you had one years ago, maybe you should give it another try. If you have never had one, maybe get one, I'll bet you like it.
