McCain ad?

Little surprised to see a McCain ad here. Isn't that rather divisive? It was in the location where rally ads usually are, not in a Google ad area.

Interesting. There are 2 rally ads and then below there are more google ads. (see attachment).

Maybe it was in this lower section?

Adsense must think we fit his age demography or don't and is trying to convince us we should. I have been on to many forums which get destroyed by politics, I must say this group has done well in avoiding that pitfall.

We can do that in other venues, hopefully NOT on the Airstream Forums. This forum is all things Airstream. My vote is to can any political ads on the forums - McCain, Obama, even Kinky Freidman...

Hey Mods... politics can be alot more devisive than the Karma button... and look what happened to it!

That's what I was wondering. If I sit here and view an ad how is that divisive? I can't tell who else is viewing the ad or what they may think of the ad while they are viewing it. Now I could be annoyed about the message or content, but that doesn't transfer to any other forum member.

Just asking.

Like this thread maybe - already 8 replies and 121 views in a very short time. I'm thinking the original poster meant divisive from the standpoint of seeing a McCain ad, but not an Obama ad (or Ross Perot err I mean Ron Paul) on the Forums. That could easily be misconstrued as an implicit endorsement of a candidate in a PFZ (polictally free zone) Wow is that a double entendre or what?

I now quote Jaxon and leave you with a potatoe... or is it potato

I find all the advertising to be divisive, hows that? I sometimes think of just putting strips of paper over the ads and leave the center open, but they are everywhere on this forum now. The advertisement has become inescapable now, sure hope Andy is getting some fat pockets due to it. I personally think it sucks that I have to look at it. Maybe a premium supporting membership could be offered where you pay an extra premium and all the advertisement would be removed. That way Andy could make some cash up front and save us all the eye pollution. I personally make a point of NOT patronizing the advertisers on this forum as a balance to some that might.

I think the original objection was that it was Mc Cain and not Obama being advertised. But you see, advertising is not something you chose to look at, it is something, someone has decided to drill into your head. It is usually something you have no interest in and that is why they are forcing it upon you. They are trying convince you you need it or you want it or in some cases (the last election) that your life is in danger without it.

I think a good course to take with this is to stop talking about politics and start talking about something everyone can agree upon, "Religion"

I'm waiting for someone to photoshop a candidate's head onto the bikerplanet ad.

The careful observer will note that I did not mention which candidate.

cure to divisiveness?

From some there's AdBlock Plus or Safari AdBlock, or even Caminio AdBlock analog; for everyone else there's AdBlock.org.

Cheers,
-jd.

To reiterate my point... the process of selecting a President every four years is an opportunity to bring Americans together to choose a leader. All the great Presidents have won by bringing people together and not by dividing the American people one against another.

This thought certainly carries over to what we face as Airstreamers in choosing the leadership for our club. If we pick people who lead us in seeing what we have in common rather than how we are different we will thrive as a group. Wally lead his caravans in putting aside any differences and sharing the gift of trailer travel with the world... it sure seems to have worked - 45 years after his death we are still following his lead.

Enough!! Already

I'm on line here at the Air Forum to gain knowledge about Airstreaming.I'm not here to gain knowledge about who supports Obama or McCain or why I should support either one. Please if you want to express you political ideas go to those web sites.Let this be a neutral area for discussing Airstream concerns and sharing our knowledge and love of Airstreaming.

The ad is an ad, bought and paid for. As long as we don't discuss politics here, it should not be problem.

Reread all of the posts here and have not seen even a hint of support either way. Nor Have I seen anyone expressing political ideas. It's an ad that is bought and paid for that helps support this site. I'd rather see some exchange of views on oil speculation or gun laws than political correctness.

I don't mind ads for Airstreams, camping, supplies, repairs, etc., etc. Airstreamin' is a way for me & ours to relax and get away from the nonsense, (especially POLITICS!). There's enough other related businesses to Airstreaming & camping that would probably love some ad space somewhere on the forum!

We will be seeing ads everywhere on these guys and have for the past gawd-only-knows how long. I'd just appreciate not seeing them here on the forums. They're invading everywhere else...
