Today was the first day the temp has reached freezing. Lows have been -4 to -17 degrees for the past week. But the only reason it reached freezing today is because it snowing...again (160 % of avg yer to date). Either they don't build shovels like they use to or they're not designed for extended use!

Our January thaw has started

The January thaw in New England has started. It's 40 degrees out right now and the weather people predict we be in the mid 50s by Tuesday. Goodness for us! Leon is out in the driveway and barnyard pushing the snowbanks deeper into the woods to keep the water from running into the house or barn as they melt (he is using the plow on our truck, so don't feel too bad for him). Like some other places in the USA and Canada we've had record snowfall this year.

The January thaw normally lasts about a week to 10 days, then we plunge into the deep freeze again until March. It's good to have a break from the freezing cold!

It is 34° here this morning. The snow is just starting to cover the ground. I don't know just how much we are supposed to get today but it's supposed to snow through-out the day.

We drove 1 hour north to our weekend place because there is a 50% chance of SNOW! They will probably shut down the state and apply for Fed disaster moneys...

Wow, that's cold, but kind of expected for Winnipeg this time of year I guess. It's one of the bigger reasons we left Southern Alberta for Vancouver many years ago. People don't freeze off body parts in the rain, they just get really reallly wet.

Hope you have that Airstream tucked away somewhere warm.
