Help requested for Airstream scale model

Good day to everybody
I live in Italy and i am very interested in Airstream trailers. Regretfully for many reasons it is rather difficult to have one in my country (would you imagine a 30ft twin axle towed by a Fiat 500 ? ).
As a matter of facts, the maximum i can do in order to satisfy my interest for american camper trailers is building a scale model.
I already produced a teardrop trailer, and i take the liberty to enclose some pictures of my scratchbuilt diorama "Holidays at the lake" showing a fictional couple with a pickup, teardrop trailer and canoe at the end of the fifties.
Now i would like to undertake a more challenging project and i'm investigating the possibility to build a 1/18 or 1/24 scale model based on the 24ft Tradewind.
Now i'm looking for some drawings or blueprint of the exterior of an Airstream Trailer. The perfect one would be a blueprint of the Tradewind, but any other trailer, be it smaller or bigger, would be perfectly acceptable. It is easy to cut and resize in order to obtain the proper size.
I searched all over the net, but could not find any suitable result. Wonder if such a big group of Airstreamers can help me or point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
Carlo

You have talent and patience to make those models! They are nicely done.

Sorry, I do not have blueprints.

Carlo, your models are very gorgeous.

Just in case you don't know there is now a WBCCI unit in Europe and the will have rally's where many will gather. Several people have vintage and new Airstreams overseas.

WBCCI is an Airstream Club.

We have a 1965 Airstream Tradewind in our driveway how can I help you or provide information.

Dear friends, thanks for your nice messages, appreciate.
Hittenstiehl, i am really jealous of your Tradewind. I noticed your suggestion about the WBCCI in Europe, but Airstreams are very rare in Italy. In my life i have seen just two of them in an exibition for vintage cars and never seen one on the road. Would be nice to be the first one..... you never know.
Back to the models.
Regretfully i am really in need of some drawings / blueprints, the idea is to have a start from the drawings. Then i can reduce of enlarge them in order to reach the right dimensions. From these i intend to make a wood model, as accurate as possible. From the wood Airstream i am planning to make a mould and to produce the final item in fiberglass.
My drawing skills are quite poor, and i do believe that some kind of technical drawings will be really useful.
Ok, let's hope someone will find a file for me.
All the best.

Good luck Carlo, have you checked the archive section at Airstream.com

They have some vintage interior drawings to show what the different model layouts may have been on the inside.

Take care and let me know if you need any measurements.

There are some drawings here that might be helpful:
https://www.airstream.com/service/document-archive/

I've been reading Airstream's published documents for more than 20 years. I have never seen a drawing that had technical dimensions, other than overall length, width, height.

If you could be more specific about which year model trailer you would like to build, someone might be able to help with those specific dimension. The width of the trailers and radius of the wall/roof change with different year models. Since the early 1990's, Airstream makes trailers up to 8.5 feet wide. Though, 8 feet and narrower are still made.

Could you tell us about the tow vehicle model you want to display the trailer with.

Carlo these are fantastic!!! I do not have any drawings, unfortunately. If you come to the US to visit you can rent an Airstream. I am sorry if you can't even have a Bambi in Italy. Good luck to you.

If you are familiar with Sketchup, the 3D modeling program, I have a drawing of my 66 Tradewind. You can get Sketchup for free and you are welcome to my drawing. There are other AS models available for this program also.

Carlo,

That is beautiful work! I especially like the canoe. I build wood canoes and your model looks wonderful. You are very talented.

A/S models

Carlo,as money-hungry as Airstream is about sueing for using anything A/S, I would be careful about using any kind of drawings for models. They have sued a number of places regarding their logos and likenesses.

Making drawings or models for your own use should not be a problem. Making them to sell or for a commercial use is a different matter.

Wow!

Carlo,
Thanks for sharing your model photos. They look amazing! If you build an Airstream please post photos of the process.

Dear friends, i am absolutely amazed and dazzled, i never believed to meet such a terrific feedback. You airstreamers are a very impressive bunch of people (Please forgive my poor english, just hope i can express my good feelings). It becomes difficult to give a feedback to each one, so i will wright a general reply, but each of you is in my heart, many thanks.
Well, since it seems that someone is interested, wish to further clarify: what i would like to find is an external view of a 24ft Tradewind built during the sixties. I mean, side view, front view and rear view. From this i might be able to build a model.
During my internet search i already noticed the Airstream site and documents (thanks for the suggestions), but the floor plans are not interesting to me: i wish to build what is called a "curbside model", a model without interior. Just the external shape would be a great achievement, i don't want to complicate things further.
I wish also to pacify people worried about infringement of patents and risk of legal actions: i intend to build one or two trailers just for my personal satisfaction and pride, no commercial use intended. I just would like to make a couple of dioramas. I have in mind the Tradewind towed by some classic woodie wagon, maybe along Route 66. Also another precious display would be the trailer parked near a wood fence, sunshade open, one bicycle and two surfboards nearby, a wooden table and some chairs ready for tanned people coming back from the beach. For you americans this is normal, but on the other side of the Atlantic Sea ..... well, you know, "California dreaming"..............
Having said so, it seems that what Korgen suggested might be the most useful item. Korgen, if you can send me a file or a URL i will be forever in debt with you.
Love to you all.

Carlo, your English is superb.

Don't worry on this forum you don't have to reply to each of us. General reply to a group works well.

Carlo,

Thank you for sharing your modeling skills with us. You are a gifted model builder. Unfortunately we don't have a Tradewind, but we have a Safari (22 ft - single axle) and an Overlander (26 ft - double axle) and we would also be happy to take digital photos front, side, rear and provide any dimensions you need. Let us know if you think that would work.
