Main door latch needed '69/'70 tradewind

I am looking for a door latch for the main door. I have the complete set, but the outside latch piece is broken off of the cam. Is there a replacement for this? It is the 69/70 tradewind. Most of the cosmetics are of 1970.

Out-of-Doors Mart has a good breakdown of the lock and sells many of the pieces for it. They also sell the whole unit, but it is pricey.

Wow, pricy is not the word. I think I will be able to salvage all but the outside handle and cam pin. 80.00$ First I will chat with our machinist at the plant. A little Government job you know. Thanks for the tip.

Well I did a little machine work this morning. This is what it looks like. I will reffit it into the assembly this afternoon. I was able to temporarily attach the cam to the handle, drill and tap and secure with bolts. Hopefully it will work. If not, then I will have to break out the cash-O-LA.
Check it out.

Ok, the handle worked great. I was able to double nut the backside of the little bolts, as there was plenty of clearance. It's hard to believe these were only held together with "one" roll pin. Feels solid and doesn't look bad either. Considering the cost of a new handle and cam pin was 80+, not a bad freeby.
More to come.
