Sorry for the delay. Here it is:
1 cup sugar
1 cup white wine vinegar
1/2 to 1 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 pound small fresh green beans, trimmed
1 pound carrots, cut into 4- x 1/2-inch strips
Whisk together sugar and vinegar until sugar dissolves. Stir in red pepper and garlic; cover and let stand 4 hours.
Cook green beans and carrots in boiling water 1 minute; drain. Plunge ino ice water to stop cooking process; drain.
Pour vinegar mixture over vegetables, tossing to coat. Let stand 1 hour before serving. Marinating longer gives them even more flavor, but dulls their bright colors.
