Smile First time airstream parents seeking advice!

Hello all! We’re very excited and feeling extremely fortunate to have inherited this new little beauty, a 1965 Caravel. We’ve already gutted the interior because it hadn’t been used or managed in 20+ years, so now we’re moving on to updates.

Thinking we should probably remove interior skins to remove old insulation, and possibly redo the electric as well?
We’re newbies and going to be heavily relying on the advice of others so any guidance is appreciated! Interested in adding solar and moving the air conditioning from the roof. Thanks in advance!

If you're thinking about solar and other updates I would recommend pulling the interior skins and redoing all the wiring. The chances of insect/rodent damage inside the walls is likely and new insulation will add to your comfort level.

There are numerous renovations to review here, mine included. If your thinking of removing the AC and doing a split unit I'd recommend looking at Bubba's thread:

Island Trader's thread is also a good one to review:

Look forward to following your progress. Welcome to the forums!
